• Milk Tea Places from a Converted Non Tea-Lover (Part 1)

Milk teas have never caught my fancy, maybe because when you mention tea, I immediately associate it to bland taste, that tea smell and my grandmother on a wheelchair sipping her blues away. And even if people would insert talks of health benefits and stuff, my first taste of tea has made a villa in my subconscious and decided to live there.

However, with the sprout of milk tea places all over Cebu, one could not help but wonder what is up with all the hype. And luckily, that lazy thought lounging in my subconscious has started to get up and give these milk teas a try.

True enough, these guys who invented milk teas are geniuses? making tea in the most tasteful kind of way. So from a converted non tea-lover like me, starting today, I am going to recommend to you my personal top 4 choices (not ranked in any way) for the milk tea places in Cebu. Maybe you should try check them out:

Must-Try Milk Tea Place: Heart Tea
Facebook Page (Like, like, like!) : https://www.facebook.com/heartteamilktea

      Owners: Frank Oliva and wife
      Locations and Schedules:
IT Park- 8am to 3am Monday to Saturday
Cebu Doctors' University- 10am to 6pm, Monday to Friday
Convergys Banawa- 10pm to 7am, Monday to Friday

Best-selling flavors: Wintermelon Milk Tea, Tapioca Milk tea; Basil Health Drink and Coffee Konjac Milk Tea.

Other flavors you should try: Strawberry Milk Tea and Blueberry Milk Tea for the berry lovers!

Add-ons: Wintermelon Milk Tea goes best with pudding and tapioca. Other add-ons include basil seeds, coffee Konjac jelly, nata and the sought after toppings--lychee and yogurt. A new add-on was launched recently- Strawberry topping. Topping prices range from P10 to P15.

Advice for First timers: For first timers, try the normal level of sweetness which is their own mix. The sweetness does not dilute the flavor of the tea. But if you really don't want have a hint of taste of tea, just tell them and they can adjust the sweetness level for you.

Promos: Loyaltea Cards -for customers who have bought products at least twice; it gives them a free add-on or free drink after a particular number of visits/ purchase; Expansion plans are also on the way.

A bit of chitchat with the owners: Heart Tea started out as a product franchise from Manila. They named it "Heart Tea" because the products are good for the heart--healthy, packed with vitamins and minerals and detoxifying. What they are trying to say is that the products are both good for the heart and the pocket.

Tomorrow, we venture into another milk tea place that has me converted. Keep posted!
