For eight straight years, the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) together with the Rotary Club continue to support the voluntary blood donation campaign of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Cebu Chapter through the Grand Bloodletting activity happening on July 28 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Robinsons Galleria Cebu.
The grand bloodletting is the annual mass blood donation that CCCI and Rotary Club, together with partners from the academe, government and non-government organizations have been holding every July in observance to the National Blood Donors’ month.
Bannering the theme, “Safe Blood for All. Donate Blood. Save Lives.”, this year’s bloodletting is in coordination with the District 3860 ROTARY INTERNATIONAL and Rotary Club of Mandaue East.
Other members of the business community, academe and government and as well as the general public are encouraged to be part of this advocacy by donating blood.
Anybody who is in good health between 18 to 59 years old and weighs at least 115 lbs. or 53 kgs can donate. They must not be anemic and should have a normal blood pressure range of between 90 – 140 mmHg (systolic) and between 60 – 100 mmHg (diastolic), and a pulse rate of 50-100 beats per minute.
Blood donors aged 16 and 17 must secure parental consent to be admitted to participate.
Blood donors must not miss these before donating blood: have enough rest and sleep, no alcohol intake and medications at least 24 hrs. Before blood donation, eat light meals, avoid fatty foods, and drink plenty of fluids like water and juices.
