With that, American Idol is now down to its top 7:
The top 7 L-R: Hollie, Colton, Jessica, Skylar, Phillip, Joshua and Elise (source: www.americanidol.com
Colton Dixon- from Tennesse. He auditioned in Charleston with his younger sister, Schyler. He originally auditioned in Season 10 but was cut in the Las Vegas round. He didn't plan to audition this season but the judges implored him to. It so happened that he advanced in the competition but his sister was cut off. He dedicates most of his songs to his love for God and his sister.
Phillip Phillips- Originally from Georgia and about to graduate, he missed his graduation ceremony because of American Idol. His voice can be compared to that of Dave Matthews and Matchbox 20's Rob Thomas.
Joshua Ledet- dubbed as Mantasia (being the man version of Fantasia, Season 3's winner), this power singer is a song writer and a lyricist in their Prayer Holiness Church is Westlake, Louisiana. He auditioned last Season 10 but did not make it past the audition stage.
Skylar Laine- this season's country singer is from Brandon, Mississipi. She wowed the judges with her version of Wind Beneath my Wings, which proved the judges and audiences that her voice should not be overlooked. She claims Miranda Lambert is her influence.
Hollie Cavanagh- is from McKinney, Texas. She originally auditioned for Season 10 but was eliminated in the green mile round and was told by J.Lo that she can win the whole competition in a couple of years with practice.
Elise Testone- This year's rocker singer is a girl! Elise has a band called The Freeloaders back in South Carolina. Sadly, Elise seems to be always in the bottom 3 but her confidence and voice surely deserves to be in this season's top 7.
And finally:
Jessica Sanchez- a Filipino-Mexican-American from San Diego, California has wowed the judges with her power voice. Her rendition of I will always Love you has gained 7million views (and counting) in Youtube. Her rendition of Sweet Dreams also showed how versatile of an artist she is. Given the support of the Filipino-Mexican-American audience plus her natural talent, predictions have been made that she might win this whole thing (fingers-crossed)
Joshua Ledet and Jessica Sanchez' "I know you were waiting for Me" duet made the judges stand up, with J.Lo predicting this could be this season's finalists.
This week, the top 7 are singing songs of this decade (2010, 2011 and 2012). Akon will be their mentor.
Is it only me or do we become instant judges when we are watching American Idol? Like, "No, no, no Jennifer, you are saying it wrong!" or "You are too kind, Mr. Tyler. If Simon Cowell is still in the show, things would have been different.. " And of course, we have noticed Randy who was the "under-dawg" before turn out to be the recent seasons' terror judge in contrast to the seemingly-all praise J. Lo and rocker-with-a-good-heart Steven Tyler.
So, here's an opportunity for us feeler judges in our living room couches: iSTORYA Ta and let us hear your thoughts on
