Sun will soon launch LTE in Cebu

Sun subscribers will soon expect to experience faster internet and better coverage.

PLDT will make LTE support available for Sun customers in Cebu. The improvement is alongside PLDT wireless subsidiary Smart Communications, Inc.’s completion of network improvement efforts in the metro. This will make way for better coverage and speeds on its LTE and 3G networks.


“We look forward to providing our Cebuano customers with the best mobile data experience, which they can use to stream movies and music without long buffering, play games without lag, and update their social media accounts with no fuss, like never before.” Mario G. Tamayo, PLDT and Smart Senior Vice President for Network Planning and Engineering said.

After completing the roll out of LTE in Metro Cebu, improvements will also be made in tourist popular areas as well.

Tamayo emphasized the importance of having a good device and an LTE SIM in taking advantage of these developments. “Subscribers who have LTE phones but don’t have LTE SIMs must upgrade their SIMs to be able to maximize the LTE network,” he said. “They can swap their SIMs for free and retain their numbers”.

Subscribers who want to avail of the upgrade of SIMs to LTE may go to the nearest Smart Store, this service is free of charge.
