The Give A Bag of Hope program gained an Award of Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility and an Award of Merit in Employee Engagement.

Convergys’ GABOH program illustrates the power of mobilizing and uniting the workforce to help challenges in education, such as school dropouts due to lack of school supplies, and illiteracy among the youth.

Convergys GABOH Year 2 successfully leveraged the scale of employee volunteerism, with 43,000 employees raising more than 33,000 backpacks containing school supplies and storybooks worth P18 million, doubling its records in the previous year.

These were achieved via voluntary salary pledges and in-kind donations. Employees also distributed the bags to elementary pupils in 36 public schools and communities nationwide, many of which were established beneficiaries of Convergys sites throughout Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Over 10, 500 volunteer hours were spent in the implementation.

For its third run this 2017, the employee-driven Convergys GABOH aims to extend the impact further, by leveraging enterprises such as BAG943 and Tahanang Walang Hagdanan, in partnership with the Unilab Foundation which bridges social entrepreneurs to the market. BAG943 will create the bags of hope and match the number produced for Convergys GABOH with the same number to be given to its own adopted public schools nationwide. Tahanang Walang Hagdanan will create the pencil cases and assemble the contents of the bags of hope, providing employment opportunities for persons with disabilities (PWD).
