Julie Anne had our heartbeats running away with her cover of Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass”, which has currently 12 million views on YouTube ever since it was uploaded, paving the way for her to become the new Filipino YouTube sensation along with several of her music covers.
A few years back, Julie Anne did not quite ring a bell. Now, she has become a household name in Manila, and hopefully in Cebu after her upcoming concert. Although an alumna of a few talent search programs, she did not make a significant mark in the showbiz scene. She finished as a runner-up in QTV’s Popstar Kids; however, it was quite tough with that feeble entrance, though a grateful stepping stone. This talented dreamer is not a quitter—rather than being a mere runner-up to a competition, she became an artist of her own through her passion towards her work and that distinguishes her from other artists. While majority would back down under such circumstance, she moved forward. This was witnessed by her ever-loving fans which she likes to call “friends”. This has also been proven through the several awards she merited along the way.
Dubbed as “The Ultimate Musical Princess”, Julie Anne is a hot property and a sought-after performer of GMA 7’s concert-TV program Party Pilipinas. She shows the audience what total performance is all about, with her graceful dancing, acting, and excellent rapping. This brought her to the real concert stage of the Araneta Coliseum as the front act of American Idol David Archuleta who personally chose her. She had been tapped to sing the theme songs for numerous GMA hit TV series; her most recent being “Broken Vow”. She can also play several musical instruments; she makes her own musical arrangements and does her own blending when she records music covers. This girl is a fabulous one-woman-show.
One of the milestones that emphasized her vocal prowess was when the 24th Aliw Awards named her as “Best Teen Female Performer”. She was named as one of the “Top Ten Women to Watch” this year in Asia. Apparently, her acoustic, youthful, and funky twist to Nicki Minaj’s hit Super Bass made her worthy of a spot in the list.
Despite all these, she is ever grateful and humble. She proves it by taking time to ‘bond’ with her fans. Naturally God-fearing and kind, she goes out of her way to help the less fortunate as she finds time to visit orphanages and contribute to charity.
With an enormous talent and a good heart, we can be sure that this amazing lady is going places. Her journey has just begun. Let’s take a few steps with her as she conquers the hearts of Cebuanos in her first ever benefit concert in Cebu where part of the proceeds go to the MSY Charitable Foundation, Inc. with funds directed solely for Operation Smile Cebu. This concert, Julie Anne San Jose: From the Heart—with special guests, Cebu’s top bands: The Wonggoys, Dance with me Kris, and Mark Seville of Sinulog Idol— will be held at St. Theresa’s College auditorium at 8PM on February 18, 2012.
It is a concert worth watching, mark your calendars on the said date. In that one stage, one woman will mesmerize you with her vocals and several extra spices. Expect some rapping, guitar and piano playing, and of course, astonishing singing. Remember her name, Julie Anne San Jose.
