The marathon will take place on June 26, 2016 at the Ayala Terraces Cebu. This year’s run is themed “Dare to break your record” for the 6th edition of Hunat Sugbu as it should be an inspiration for runners to be faster and better this than they were in the previous Hunat marathons.
Cenelyn Manguilimotan, Parklane International Hotel’s general manager said, “We really try to have a theme every year that would encourage runners to join Hunat, and since it’s our 6th year, aside from our new logo and new shirt design, we want to encourage runners to break their personal records.”
Because of the theme, the organizers have decided to keep the same route they had last year so runners can see how much they’ve improved.
Race distances for both men and women are broken down into three categories: 3k, 6k, 12k, and 21k.
“Every year we hit more than 2,500 but less than 3,000 runners and we plan to have about the same number of registrants this year,” said Hunat Sugbu’s chairman, Nick Nacorda.
This event, “Dagan para ni Maning” is in honor of Manuel Ting. It was created last 2011, it existed for the reason that proceeds are used to help the society, specifically the hearing impaired community. Everyone who joins this ‘event for a cause’ is a contributor to the Medical Mission for the Jesu Christi Community.
Registration booths are ongoing until June 19 at the Parklane International Hotel and in Cebu City Sports Complex. You can also register in Ayala Center Cebu from June 6-19 during mall hours.
Registration fees vary from the each category. P450 for 3K, P550 for 6K, P650 for 12K, and P750 for 21k.
Joel Baring, the race director said that P75,000 worth of cash prizes will be given to the winners along with giveaways from Flanax.
To celebrate the 6th season, runners are encouraged to bring old memorabilia for the “Fun games” they have prepared. Other than that, Hunat will continue to give out special awards like last year, however, the basis of the awards are kept confidential until the end of the marathon to make it more exciting.
