JobStreet.com reports on salaries and availability of jobs in the region
Based on jobs posted in the JobStreet.com website from October to December 2015, the study reports that graduates of IT courses received at least PHP23,917, which is PHP1,000 more than the PHP22,657 national average monthly wage in the same field.
Though it is common knowledge that Information Technology-related jobs are still the most lucrative in terms of salaries for most position levels, Visayas' fresh graduates specializing in IT out-earn their colleagues in other parts of the country.
The trend of Visayas employees getting competitive salaries compared to their colleagues is seen through all position levels. Visayan Junior Executives specializing in banking/financial services also top the country, earning PHP27,468, which is higher than the national average of PHP26,274.
Those in the junior executive level (with 1 to 4 years of work experience) earn an average of PHP20,640 which although is off of the national average by almost PHP5,000, is still higher than the averages in the Provincial Luzon (PHP19,400) and Mindanao (PHP18,002).
Customer Service-related jobs in the managerial level in the Visayas' average salaries are higher compared to other areas, where the average is PHP76,015. This is ore than PHP4,000 higher compared to the national average of PHP71,839, as well as those in the NCR with PHP61,736, Provincial Luzon PHP58,875, and Mindanao PHP46,500.
Managers in Western, Central, and Eastern Visayas, plus the Negros Island Region earn an average of P82,188, which is higher compared to their Provincial Luzon and Mindanao contemporaries.
Visayas' supervisors (those with 5 to 9 years of work experience) specializing in IT, Customer Service, and Finance top the regional list, although the average for his position level is at P28,381 is far behind the national average of PHP39,004.
Most of the job opportunities in the Visayas are still found in the call center and BPO industry, which accounts for 4 out of 10 jobs in the region as posted on JobStreet.com. Retail and manufacturing come second and third in the most in-demand jobs in the Visayas.
The report reflects a dynamic job market in the Visayas. "The jobs available in the region are getting more competitive compared to those offered in the other areas of the country," JobStreet Country Manager Philip A. Gioca said. According to Seek Asia Regional Marketing Operations Manager Yolanda R. Buyco, "There are exciting job opportunities in the Visayas that does not require one to leave for another area to seek for greener pastures."
