    Default Cebu- based Cat Club - Anyone?

    *posted with permission

    ===+===+===+===+===

    Hello Everyone,

    We have a cattery based in Manila and in the past 10 months to date, we're able to send 7 cats to Cebu, 2 of which were CFA Champions. Now, we have 3 kittens more pending to be shipped to Cebu. All are from our cattery alone, excluding yet those cats that were sent in by other breeders and those imported to Cebu from abroad. It is a happiness having been able to observe a growing cat fancy there, but quite a shame there is no club yet catering for the needs.

    The Feline Fanciers of the Philippines, Incorporated, the governing body for cat affairs in the Philippines would like to hear if there could be people there who would like to step forward to form a member club posted in Cebu. The member club will be the organizing group for feline activities to be held there, sharing the same benefits and privileges like licensed championship cat shows (under foreign and local judges), seminars, symposiums, etc... The FFPI provides equal importance to and promotes awareness, husbandry and care of cats in general (in both pedigreed and non-pedigreed, including pusa-kals, breeds of cats).

    An initial team composed of a group of standard offices, namely: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Auditor and Directors. The member club shall be registered with SEC. For other requirements, please find the contact informations below.

    I am Alex and I am currently the assisting coordinator for members in the Laguna Area, I would also like to extend the same with you. You may email or contact me via the following: alex@bedazzlepersians.com , 0927 6740989

    The temporary website of FFPI is at http://ffpi.multiply.com

    Please forward to anyone you know that may be sharing the same concern.

    P.S. I only speak in Filipino and English, as I'm actually based in Manila, and it would help if you do the same in this thread. Thank you!

    FELINE FANCIERS OF THE PHILIPPINES

    OBJECTIVES

    The objectives of Feline Fanciers of the Philippines, Inc. (FFPI) are:
    • To encourage the love for cats and to promote the welfare of all breeds of cats, including household pets;
    • To hold or sponsor cat shows and competitions;
    • To sponsor special programs and seminars, to promote the interest in and knowledge of all domestic cats;
    • To adopt and enforce uniform rules and regulations governing cat shows, to regulate the conduct of person interested in exhibiting and breeding cats;
    • To enhance friendship and camaraderie among and promote the interest of owners, fanciers and breeders of cats;
    • To promote and encourage kindness to all animals and to assist in the prevention of cruelty and maltreatment of animals;

    HISTORY

    The Feline Fanciers of the Philippines, Inc. is a non-profit organization duly formed and registered with the SEC in February 2001. It was first initiated by one of the incorporators, who called on people interested in starting a club, during an interview for a TV show. One of the other incorporators responded to this call until they were both able to contact people who have become the present officers to form what is now FFPI.
    During the first few months of its operations, FFPI has coordinated with other organizations such as the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) to exhibit or show their cats; and each time, new members would register. Starting with only 11 members, the club has reached a hundred by the end of year 2001.

    BOARD OF TRUSTEES

    The affairs of the club are administered by the Board of Trustees composed of 11 directors, some of whom shall also occupy the following positions: the President, the Vice President, the Secretary, the Assistant Secretary, the Treasurer, the Assistant Treasurer and the Public Relations Officer. Club members, who are present at the annual meeting of the club, elect the 11 directors. These elected directors then choose the officers among themselves. The Board of Trustees formulates the rules regarding the policies of the organization, the registration of pedigrees of cats and kittens and procedures in the cat show.

    OPERATIONS

    FFPI has grown, in terms of individual memberships from 11 to over a hundred after a year in operation; with approximately 250 individual cat registrations and litter registrations after one year of operations. In addition to this, the club also handles transfer of ownership, cattery name registration and the issuance of local Certified Pedigrees.

    MEMBERSHIP

    FFPI membership is open to all cat owners regardless of their age and the breed of cat they own. Annual dues are collected yearly with members being issued ID cards as proof of their membership. FFPI, with a majority vote by the Board of Trustees has the right or prerogative to revoke membership if a member does not comply with the club rules and regulations.
