    Default SOS: internet connection using dial up


    mga bro:

    i have already setup an internet connection through (prepaid cards) dial up and its working fine but how will i configure my other pc so that i can connect to internet. its LAN connected

    make your pc(which is connected to your dial-up modem) as a proxy server. Install software like winroute, wingate, etc in the proxy server.... COnfigure the ie browser(option>internet option). Check the proxy settings and specify port 80 or 8080...

    If you're using WinXP, use the Internet Connection Sharing feature of the OS. Try to google for the procedure.

    Try this: (This applies to STATIC IP CONFIGURATION)
    ===============================================
    1. Right Click on your dialer then ENABLE INTERNET CONNECTION Sharing
    2. Configure your TCP/IP settings. (SAMPLE BELOW)

    PC1 (with internet)

    IP Add: 192.168.2.1
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway: (LEAVE THIS BLANK)
    PREFERRED DNS SERVER: (LEAVE THIS BLANK)

    PC2 (Workstation)

    IP ADDRESS: 192.168.2.2
    SUBNET MASK: 255.255.255.0
    DEFAULT GATEWAY: 192.168.2.1
    PREFERRED DNS SERVER: 192.168.2.1

    3. FINISH!!! Restart if necessary..
    ===============================================
    Troubleshooting:

    WINXP - if you followed the above instructions and still can't connect. DISABLE the FIREWALLS installed.
