gi bored ko sa office so I started browsing Ted talks online, and found this:

I was shocked about the things I learned and we don't know about communism.
by looking at the result on the recently concluded national elections, I think mas applicable ang socialism sa Pinas
since;
1. Not all people voted or care about elections sa Pinas
2. Elite groups and families lang ang makinabang anang election.

but seriously, they have a more effective political system than democracy.

just take a moment, realize and imagine if this system is applicable ba to us before commenting.

for me, I'd like their system specially on how they promote officials, pero there might be a way that such system can be adopted without limiting the freedom of the people, specially the freedom of information and speech na virtually wala sa China.

I strongly disagree with Ted Talks on this.

Going back to Winston Churchill's words. In the face of all other political systems democracy is clearly superior for a multitude of reasons! Don't look at a single thing then represent it for the whole. Look at everything in a broader platform.

Li uses Democracy and Capitalism interchangeably. This is where he is wrong.

If I were present in any of his speeches, I could ask him one question... Just one question.

Looking at statistics, how can he explain the number of citizens fleeing from Communist nations like China, North Korea, USSR, and the East Germany?

Now compare the value to the number of citizens fleeing from nations like UK, US or Canada. The data is not surprising.

I never saw the vid. I don't have to. Here are some serious points to consider why china is what it is today:

1. China currency is artificially undervalued, hence there is a trade surplus which enables china to provide investments inside and outside of the country by way of their excess foreign reserves. China can't invest those foreign reserves domestically since it will fuel inflation.
2. It is still difficult to own land in China. This is one of the reasons why Chinese immigrants are transferring to US and settling there.
3. Power is cheap in China but very dirty as most of it is coal-fired. There are no environmental regulations being put in place to safeguard the health of the people. Add that to their artificially low currency and you have extremely cheap labor.
4. Socialism works if the nation has an almost infinite supply of natural resource to account for its expense. Although going pure socialism is bad, a good mix of free market capitalism and socialism will suffice. An example of this is Canada, note that they have oil exports to US from alberta and other states. Another extreme example of socialism is venezuela and the quality of life there is apparently something left to be desired.

This is where you can see how clever the Communist Chinese are, disguising one of their propaganda spewing minions (Eric Li) as a venture capitalist!

Telling the whole world Communism is good on one side of the dice. But the other five sides are horribly disfigured.

For me, the best example is Sweden:

"The Olive Green Party" in Sweden. In Sweden it is called "Vetenskapliga partiet" and it is not run democratically within but with strong leadership, deliberate discourse and the intention of consensus in any changes is the main powerhouse of it's success...

In a country where corruption is defined as an attachment with culture,
socialism will just make the plunder more manifested and effective,
why? because the twisted government would have the total control.

anyway, im not condoning socialism or communism per see,

what I like from his video is the way government is formed and managed, that is thru merits and experience and not thru popularity contest whereas only the elite and the same set of shit seating on our government.
the reason for this is the result of our elections, even here in istorya, gamay ra gani ang nivote last election.

pero anyways, this is a healthy discussion here

I do not feel the need to watch the video to make a justifiable comment.
Democracy is always the best system.
In application to our country and our political leaders, the system did not fail us, we made the system fail, by electing corrupt and criminal officials.

Now then, why is democracy best?
Because, we also have the power to vote against those corrupt and criminal officials.

I did not watch the video but I agree with this. The Philippines is a failed democracy. That is why I don't read the news anymore, local or national, it is the same thing over and over again. Look at what we vote in, after movie stars now mga political dynasties na sad.

Maybe a communist form of government will not work but an authoritarian type of central government that favors a free market economy. We are not mature enough to have a free wheeling democracy because we focus on personalities not issues. That is why there I see no hope for our type of democracy.

Maski the USSR did not last very long, look at what they have achieved. They turned a country that was considered to be the most backward in Europe that bogged down the German war machine in WWII.

They almost competed toe to toe with the U.S. in the Cold War. Comparing and competing with the U.S. is almost unfair because it was already the most industrialized country at the start of the century while the USSR was mostly agricultural from the start.
