Default which former NBA player would likely do good as a coach?

..provided they never coached any nba team yet

    my picks

    1. john stockton --> probably the best choice
    2. michael jordan
    3. magic johnson

generally, i think guards, specifically point guards, would do great in coaching. they know how to run the game

    how about:

Reggie Miller & Steve Kerr... both are NBA commentator and analyst... maybe they can use their skills in coaching....

michael jordan will expect too much from his players, probably perfection or somewhere near his standards.

i'd count steve kerr in too. he's a good analyst and tactician. he could be somewhere along with phil jackson, pat riley and lenny wilkens someday if he'll pursue a career in coaching

For me, no former superstar players are good in coaching. So far, only bird reached to the finals, others has no patience with the players cos superstar players i think are too perfectionist.

here are some former coaches and current coaches who are successful...that are bench / role players at their time sa NBA.

    Pat Riley
    Phil Jackson
    Rudy T
