MANILA - After failing to show up in an arraignment, the Sandiganbayan’s second division has ordered suspended Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia arrested in connection with the graft and malversation raps filed for the allegedly questionable purchase of the Balili property in 2008.
The magistrates of the anti-graft court also forfeited her bail bond.
The P98.9-million Balili Estate in Tinaan, Naga City was bought in 2008 for the Cebu Provincial Government’s use.
The Office of the Ombudsman later found out that a "large portion" was submerged in seawater and could not be used for the planned infrastructures.
