Exploring Southern Leyte and the Neighboring Municipalities
April 28-29, 2012
Leyte has a lot more to offer, 2 days wasn't enough.
From waterfalls to caves, lakes and coastal areas, to the high peaks and classic structures... I will be back for more
The Matalom Sunset
After 2 days of roaming around the South and Western coast of Leyte,
I finally got the chance to take a photo of this perfect sunset location in Brgy. Itum, the Municipality of Matalom.
Matalom borders Bato in the north and Maasin City in the south.
It was said that the Spaniards once saw the flaming red of the fire trees that dotted the shores of Matalom Beach and asked the natives the local dialect for “hermosa” or beautiful. The natives answered “Matahum” or “Matalom.” This was the origin of the town’s name..
