help in choosing between canon a640 or 710is

i have a 3.2 mp cam. want to upgrade soon. please give comments between those 2. i have seen reviews on the internet. just want to listen to opinions of fellow istoryans.

a640 - 10 mp
a710is - 7.1 mp with image stabilization, both have the same price

i would suggest a710 IS, besides IS which is a plus already, a710 has better optical zoom. aperture wise they are both the same. On MP, I dont take 10mp as an advantage coz this will cause more noise on the image specially to point and shoot which has smaller sensor.

Go for the IS. This will help a lot. Plus, I don't think that you will need a 10mp unless you're gonna process posters.

IS really makes a huge difference... specially if you won't be using a tripod. And the 710IS has a better zoom and uses only 2 AA batteries.

i have the older brother A620 that has 7.1mp and its a great camera, but i dont think the 10mp of the A640 will really have a big difference since its sensor is still small. i would go for the A710is if i were to choose between the two... i'd go for the IS version of any camera rather than larger pixel count IMAGE STABILIZER makes a lot of difference ... especially for shaky hands like mine Unsaon mana nako ang dakog pixel count unya tungod sa ka korog sa akong kamot poros blurred ang akong mga pictures hehehe... and mind you 7.1mp is large enough for your needs, unless you would want to have your pictures printed for billboards... then you would need a full frame for that hehehe
