    Read the following:
How does drupal compare to Mambo?
    Drupal Vs Mambo
Using Democracy in Action Tools with CivicSpace (a flavor of Drupal) vs. Mambo
Implementing a Pattern Library in the Real World: A Yahoo! Case Study (Why Yahoo! chose drupal for their intranet)

As for my personal experience, i fell in love at first sight (or site) with mambo (i met drupal at about the same time but didn't love it the first time). i played with it and planned to make a website using Mambo. As i was making the site and looking for more components and modules, i eventually grew sick and tired of its unclean code and APIs (the only thing i liked was the use of XML). components are buggy, most templates are not XHTML/CSS compliant, and core functionality is so limited (you need a lot of hacks for that). i went back to drupal and played with it then i eventually got excited working with drupal! eventually, i'm planning to use it on a site. and i got what i need (clean URLS, better user management, XHTML/CSS compliance, powerful and clean, not buggy modules, etc). I'm very happy moving over!

I don't know with you but it's my opinion.
