Default Looking for collaborators in producing anime series

I'll be straightforward. This is a collaborative hobby. Which means, this isn't something that you'll be paid for while working on it. But what we are trying to do here is to complete an animated series project which we can publish online and have the first half of the animated series (there may be a total of 20-25 episodes of which half is free to view) viewable to the public for free, and the other climactic half will be for paying registered users which we will host online (don't worry, I have a website). We can even sell the rights to a t.v. company, or even have it sponsored by a very likely client. Think Cartoon Network, Animax, Disney Channel, or even local stations. This may sound far-fetched, but if we can produce high-quality output, we can haul in clients. The business side will be discussed further.

The thing is, the income we get is from people who would sign up to register (small amount to welcome other hobbyists) for our website to view scheduled episodes (to prevent others from copying other unpublished future episodes). I have this system taken care of.

You may be asking what sort of animation this is. It's a steampunk-themed(You should Google it for those unfamiliar with the term) anime. The story is to be discussed in a meet up. The synopsis is about a young teenage genius girl in the Edwardian/Victorian 19th century alternative era where the main technology used are steam-powered machines and mechanical clockwork as well as 'aether'-powered tech and very slight use of electricity (the concept of electric-powered items would be experimental at this age). She tries to prove her worth in this male-dominated era by applying to join an elite government-funded agency that rids their city of rogue automatons (robots, but steam-powered tech, but something else seems to be at work for those units that go awry, which is part of the ever-growing mystery). But instead of getting to be part of the field action, she is given a job on, you guessed it, house-keeping! This is an adventure-comedy sci-fi anime.

This is the main protagonist of the story:

So taking from the synopsis you get a pretty good idea of what could be covered. To save you the trouble, I'll be listing them down:

    1) We need a 3d renderer. I'll do half the amount of work and this person to fill in the position will be doing half. We'll discuss the software to be used as well as talk about designs fit for steampunk. I already have someone fill in this position though. At the moment there are 2 people.

    2) We need scriptwriters. We need to further discuss the whole plot, as well as episodic plot. We need to combine adventure and comedy, but the whole plot should be interesting which grows more interesting as each episode runs.

    3) We need a storyboard artist. Cinematography is very important, we need to discuss camera angles, lighting, action sequences and something like that. This mostly involves illustrating rough sketches and also constant brainstorming together with the writer.

    4) Animator. I can animate but I need an extra set of hands (and since I don't have doctor octopus' technology, I'm looking for another hobbyist), and I can show you techniques to make the whole work faster and easier. I'll introduce you to an interesting software and we will also use Flash or Photoshop, but we'll discuss the pro's and con's. This guy will be working closely with the storyboard artist and the 3d renderer.

    5) Otakus and Design Consultant. He or she should be familiar with common anime expressions, can orient us more about anime culture or anime animation symbolisms and what-nots (Though we pretty much know these but we like someone who is passionate about this aspect, because a lot of us are already influenced by Western style). He or she is someone like a quality-control officer, who would judge the work if it passes as an authentic japanese animation of sort. Also he/she will be responsible for suggesting designs and proposing changes necessary to build a more consistent, unified and coherent feel of all the components of the series.

    6) Video editor. One of the most necessary positions. I don't think I need to elaborate on this.

    7) Music scorer or even some local band capable of producing punk-rock or even steampunk music. We'll go for no lyrics at first if it's appropriate (open for discussions). I'll show you sample tracks I've LEGALLY (haha!) downloaded for free. We'll market your album as well to be included in the promotional gigs we will conduct. (Album income will be given solely to the band responsible, we'll consider it as a separate sales allocation but with a unified effort to promote the cartoon series together with the gigs so we could at least show appreciation of your support).

Voice-overs. I assumed earlier we could just pick out someone whom we know to do the voices for the characters. But thinking about it, I realize that it is a necessity due to consistency. So, we are going to need voice overs for:

    a) Jane -main protagonist, she is aged 17, is a genius at weaponizing (making ordinary objects from appliances to vehicles and even buildings into weaponized versions) everything. She is very animated, bubbly, funny but can kick b*tts.

    b) Col. Wigglesworth - an old general. He leads the elite team and supervises everything. A round, jolly old man with white whiskers, mustache, beard and semi-bald man who is proud to wear his old military uniform. He seems very optimistic always and is very mysterious because one cannot tell if he makes some fluke or is after all aware of what needs to be done.

    c) Peter - (Last name is required). An ex government secret agent. Very serious, who is in his mid 40's. Tall, silent, deadly. A weapons specialist and a a marksman. He is one of the top protagonists in the story. A team leader, but often thinks everyone needs more training. Self-confident and often goes into arguments with Jane because he thinks Jane is inexperienced and hard-headed.

    d) James - Vehicles specialist, in his early 30's. A great mechanic who builds vehicles needed for every mission. Responsible for the upkeep of the team's machinery.

    c) The Butler - Poised, prim and proper old man, aged at about 60 yrs. He sees Jane as a young apprentice but often scolds her for being too rowdy and unpoised. Responsible for all the paperwork and dealing with guests. Also is the head at maintenance of the station.

    d) Others - villains and extras.

You are required to make your own input and ideas about the story and everything about it. Let's share ideas about what may be best for the whole project.

I think that's about what we need, apart from time, of course. We'll be having meet ups, from simple coffee shop discussions to actual collaborative work over someone's place or something. No Sunday meet ups though. STRICTLY NO OVERNIGHT or LATE NIGHT work. I'm not looking for trouble, I just want us to have professional and good clean inspirational fun while working with healthy working collaborative relationship (I hate political bickering) only during your free times and I don't want to be obtrusive or obstructive against your work or personal lives. XD

Qualifications? If you feel you've got what it takes to fill in those positions discussed above and have the time to actually give this one a go. Anyone is elligible, as long as he/she has good etiquette, respect for his fellowmen, respect for ideals and culture of others, is patient, is inspired for this project, eager to learn, can be trusted, highly reliable and be counted on in the tasks and honest. I discourage anyone under the age of 15 to join this though, and it would be better if you are 18 years or above. I just feel a lot more comfortable not breaking any civil or work-related or rights laws I may not be aware of, lol.

You'll get massive credits (names shown on each episode opening and ending, or even cameos if we like, haha!), I'll also do extra on the marketing and publicity side (online mostly), and we will all get equal share on the income when it arrives. You'll have a good quality portfolio entry too if we get this to work. Your technical skills will be added and you'll also gain new friends and professional connections. We'll all have something to be proud of!

Time table for this may be at a minimum of 6 months to about a year. Yes, this kind of thing isn't easy, and patience is very much required. We all have our personal lives to attend to, and work. You may be married or not but we all have different personal priorities in life, that's why we only do this when we have free time.

If you want to do something significant, to do something about your dreams and to make it big, when we can have a shot at this, won't you take it? If you know someone with this skill set, please by all means share this note to them. Everyone's support will be acknowledged, even have all the behind-the-scenes gang's photos included somewhere within the credits if we want to.

If you may be questioning if we have what it takes to take on this project, I assure you that we do. I am aware of the necessity to provide high-quality output and I believe that we need to deliver nothing less. We know the techniques, the facilities, we have the skills, all we need now is the willpower.

If you are very interested to commit, please pm me. I am very much eager to hear about you. Thank you very much everyone. To God be the glory, and kudos to all of you!

    P.S.

This won't be the only story we're going to tackle. After the series, we'll make movies of an entirely different genre. It's top secret but it'll have to wait. You can also share your own ideas as well.

For those tagged, I'm sure there may be someone you know who may fit well with the positions I posted, and perhaps you might like to share this post as well. I highly encourage Iligan-Cagayan collaborators so that meet ups are easy. Again thank you for all of your time and consideration. Cheers!

Not getting paid because this isn't a job, it's a collaborative work. It's a hobby, looking for people in their spare time to give this a go. So everyone who has a spare time and interested to make a name in this field are welcome. Income will be earned of course, once the whole series is done. I have explained in the post how we are going to earn here, and make it big. Yes, animation is not easy, but we will have group sessions and trainings. We are doing this for the fun of it and for really wanting to make an effort in making a breakthrough. I'm asking for volunteers so to speak.

Thanks, actually we've got some stories other than steampunk on the line. But we're making the steampunk story the pioneer animation, not as a movie, but a series. Once this gets endorsed, and sponsored and makes sales worldwide (online), we'll have a concluding ova.

But the collaborative team won't be stopping after that. New stories as suggested by each member will be taken into consideration, discussed further, and once approved, it'll be the next in line. So it kind of goes on in the long run, and being a part of this collaboration would really make a huge impression in our portfolio. I'd be satisfied if the world would give a thumbs up the the output.

Think about it, it's an undertaking no one has really thought about yet, in the Philippines, and it's not even from an official animation company.
