A Laundromat blew up in Mandaue this morning... Some people allegedly killed, doctors say victims full of shrapnel, could be the LPG tanks of the laundromat... but motorcycles flew 30 meters in the air, eyewitnesses say...

Niagi man ko mga past 8 kay padung nko work... I saw one person gitabonan sa ZIN (used as atop sa balay bitaw!). Patay na jud to sya, guba jud ang building pero di pa confirm nga bombing... Pero, niingon ang uban nga kusog kaayo ang tay-og sa yuta pagbuto!

One killed, four hurt in Mandaue blast

At least one person was killed while four others were injured following a blast in Mandaue City in Cebu province Monday morning, DZMM reported.

The report said the explosion took place past 7 a.m. at a building owned by ex-Mandaue vice-mayor Demetrio Cortes Jr. along a highway in Barangay Basak.

The report added that the blast destroyed a large part of the building. Houses nearby were also damaged by the blast.

The city police has dispatched bomb technicians to determine the type of explosive involved in the blast.

Police said that probers have yet to determine if a bomb caused the explosion.

The blast took place as the Philippine National Police was on red alert for the fifth anniversary of the September 11 attacks in the United States.
