Does anyone here know how to unlock a USB Modem?

Before I go any further, I have asked an IT lawyer if it is legal to open a USB modem (like SmartBro/Globe Tatoo/Sun) and he said that it is okay basta PREPAID. Ideally, dili gyud unta dapat ilock to just one provider ang modem kay ang prepaid kit is like buying a new celphone nga open line.

According to this friend lawyer of mine, kining prepaid kits nga gioffer sa mga customers violate the freedom of consumers to determine his/her preferred {internet} service provider under the Consumer's Act and therefore kanang fineprint sa prepaid kits can be voided by the courts anytime basta naa lay moreklamo.

Anywayz, the reason why I want to open my USB modem kay pwerte gyung bati-a sa service sa Globe Tattoo compared to my sister's Smartbro. You can really tell the difference right on your face! As a matter of fact mas maayo pa ang Sun kay bisag hinay pero di gyud maputol.

I've already seen "open line" nga mga USB modems here that have been reconfigured manually. I am not really that techy so if you have some ideas or procedures that you can share, I would appreciate it very much. If you do it for a fee, how much is it going to cost me?
