Default Asus introduces Superspeed USB 3.0 mobo

Taiwanese manufacturer Asustek said it has introduced a mobo for PCs that incorporates two USB 3.0 ports.

USB 3.0, or Superspeed as it's known, is set to be introduced in a range of products including peripherals towards the end of this year and throughout 2010.

The board, dubbed the Xtreme Design P7DP55DE-E uses Intel's P55 Express chipset, and even though this chipset does not support USB 3.0, Asus has added in support from an unknown third party manufacturer.

Intel is rumored not to be ready to introduce USB 3.0 chipsets for quite some time.

As well as the USB 3.0 ports, the Asus motherboard includes 10 USB 2.0 ports, as well two six GB/sec S-ATA ports.

The board will be ready to ship in December and is estimated to cost $300.

Pareho rana sa SSD and Blueray drive bro nga sa kamahal wala kaayo mo palit ug mo gamit. USB3.0 is just something like an upgrade from the previous USB versions and it has backward compatible as well. For me dili mana cguro important jud, kay sa speed lang of USB2.0 ok paman kaayo. Ila manpud na gi tuyo para mga tao mag upgrade napud huhuh...unsaon nalang.

Additional info about USB 3.0 :
In a nutshell, USB 3.0 promises the following:

    • Higher transfer rates (up to 4.8 Gbps)
    • Increased maximum bus power and increased device current draw to better accommodate power-hungry devices
    • New power management features
    • Full-duplex data transfers and support for new transfer types
    • New connectors and cables for higher speed data transfer...although they are backwards compatible with USB 2.0 devices and computers
