Default Our problem is that we have too many politicians

There are so many threads about who should be our next president, but in my opinion we are missing a more important problem, and that is that we have too many politicians in this country already (and always have since the defective 1987 Constitution). So whether the leader is firm or soft or honest or corrupt, there is not much he can do if the rest of the politicians voted into office are incompetent, uncooperative and draining our valuable resources. What is needed, really, is a massive revamp of our elected officials. We have way too many mayors, congressmen, senators, governors and other useless parasites. Imagine, we are a country of only 90 million and yet we have around 250 congressmen. Metro Manila is smaller than New York City, yet it has SEVENTEEN mayors whereas NYC, a city of 8.5 million people only has ONE.

What we need is not just a good president, but fewer politicians period. At least even if they are corrupt, less money will be wasted/stolen. I mean what the hell, we even divide already small districts, into even smaller districts just to create a win-win situation for rival politicians. The stupid and retarded clause in the Constitution that requires another elective post each time the population of an area reaches a certain amount needs to be removed as it is killing our country by saddling us with useless fools, many of whom couldn't even be bothered to live in the provincial towns where they are elected. We are a poor country and cannot afford anymore politicians, and even the ones we have are too many and have become such a huge drain on our resources.

We should have no more than one mayor for every city, regardless of size. Several cities adjacent to each other, if altogether combined have a population of fewer than 10 million, should be merged together into one district with one mayor and one congressman. We should have no more than 8 senators in total, because after all that's the number of senators we have now that are really doing anything significant anyway, the rest are just pa-posing posing, sleeping or absent (suroy-suroy) or retarded. In total, the Philippines should have no more than 100 congressmen, in fact I recommend just 50 since most of the 250 we have are lazy idiots who are absent 80% of the time and even when present, are just making chika-chika or resting their butts or making an embarrassment of themselves or their country by making grandstanding speeches or conducting stupid investigations that lead nowhere.

    Simple formula:
Fewer politicians = more money = WIN.

I definitely agree this is one of the biggest problems in the Philippines. I also posted in another thread regarding this, how the Philippines has 80 provinces and always creating new ones, when we're a small country. Large countries like China, the US, India, Indonesia, Brazil have fewer states/provinces compared to the Philippines!

The Philippine Constitution is definitely in need of some amendment. The problem is that our politicians would not like to amend these stupid articles that will make the government more efficient. Rather they just want to amend the parts that allow them to cling to power.

Something is also really wrong with our local government code. Some of the "Group of 16" municipalities might not really be deserving to be called "cities", but we should stop all this nonsense about whether that town is called a "city" or a "municipality". IRA should be done according to that place's income and population, and it should not depend on whether it is called a city or a municipality. Daghang mga sige pangita ug loopholes diri sa Philippines, pero way mo tapak anang mga loopholes kay mo take advantage jud.

That's the ironic thing about these officials, they are such hypocrites. It will really take a principled leader and party to overhaul the rotten system we have now. When businessmen come to them for help, asking for development or rescue funds, we are just told to downsize and become more efficient. But when the government incurs huge budget deficits, instead of downsizing and becoming more efficient, they have the gall to suggest that we need even more Congressmen. Pesteng yawa! Mga animal!

Some posters here are saying that OK ra daghan politiko basta dili kurakot need to explain why it is OK to have more politicians even if they aren't corrupt. In other countries, their cities manage just fine with one mayor presiding over a population of 10+ million. Take a look at Tokyo and compare it with the management of Metro Manila. This is not a case of two heads are better than one, but rather two pigs are worse than one. Because that's what most of our politicians are, pigs. They act like pigs, talk like pigs and eat like pigs. They must be pigs.
