Besides WCG, I'd like to see if Cebu has a great audience for fighting games. 2009 is a great year for fighting games. The biggest franchise name for fighters, Street Fighter has got out SF4 for PS3/X360 and soon on PC. VS Series has Tatsunoko vs. Capcom for the Nintendo Wii with a US release releasing this year. Namco is releasing Tekken 6:BR for PS3/X360 and Soulcalibur IV:BD for PSP. SNK will be putting out King of Fighters XII. Arcsystems works of Guilty Gear fame will be releasing Blazblue for PS3/360.
Last December 2008, Otakufest 2.0 was held. Having seen Tekken 5: DR being played all day on the previous event with only one PS3, I was joyed to see a decent sized audience. Maybe it would have had an even greater turnout if there were more units with a variety of games in our next event.
What's Cebu gamers say about a fighting game tournament? First of all, I'd like to see if there are interested players who would play for tournaments, then decide what games should be played for tournaments. If there's enough support, I'll try to find some sponsors for this event. Otakufest 3.0 will be held at December as the earliest, so that should be some ample time to organize it.
Oh, and one more thing, Itech has been stacking some arcade sticks so you may want to get one for your console. I'm thinking of getting one myself (sakit kaayo 7k ;_
. Or import from somewhere outside of the country. :P
