Default Mitch Albom vs. Paolo Coelho

These are two of my favorite authors and their works have greatly affected in some ways.

two of the books Mitch Albom has written are Tuesdays with Morrie, The Five People You Meet in Heaven
One of my fave book written by Paolo Coelho is The Alchemist.

What are your thoughts about them?

My thoughts on these two authors: they're ok. Nothing special though. Their stories are ok while you are deeply immersed in them, but once you get through the last page, that's it. To be honest, I found The Five People You Meet in Heaven somewhat boring. While I had more fun reading The Alchemist, the book left me with the impression that Coelho is trying too hard to be 'profound'. It doesn't strike me as genuine. I can't put my hand on it, but something's off about him.

In short, akong impression ani nilang duha, mediocre. Not bad, not good. Tunga tunga lang. Pero kaning duha, they're laughing all the way to the bank, raking in millions of moolah. LOL

yeah, i kind of felt that way too, maybe it's because of the density of symbolisms in his novel. they sort of scream at you from every page. but i like his insights, though.

cuelho uses a lot of symbolisms and metaphors. albom, on the other hand, portrays exactly what he perceives. mas dali i-absorb ang kang albom. but once you internalize the works of cuelho, his insights are really impressive. i still prefer cuelho's works
