How to clean old coins

Hello istoryans need help. my father had old coins that i have found lately. the problem is that its old. i want to clean and let it shine or polish it but i don't know how? Pls. help me......

my mom used to teach me that to make an old coin shine, rub it with wood ash. keep rubbing an you get the shine you desired. Tried it before but not recently.

rub it wd toothpaste (paste ah, dili gel.. kanang white color) then add more baking soda if u want..

ibabad pod sa suka daan aron muhumok.. (buot2x lang ning suka, pero try lang)

pero the best ang Metal polish.. barato ra man guru na..

try kanang bato bro. dn dokdoka. nya ang pino nga agi sa dinokdok maoy e pahid sa coin.
mosinaw lage na. murag kanang naay mag hantak ba. d ba naa manay bato para e pahid2x sa panalang...hehehe ^_^

for silver coins, use a cloth and rub it with ashes from burnt paper, wood or cigarette to make them shine. for gold coin that is tarnished, it can be clean by a goldsmith.
