Default Online scammers: how to detect and avoid them

    Hi, Istoryans

I need your tips and advice.

I'm considering an online writing job offer that pays a flat monthly rate. Mao ni sya ang initial details:

Job: Varied forms of writing, depending on the client websites' requirements
    Hours: Monday to Friday only
Pay: Initial pay is 350. After one month, naa bonuses

    1. What questions must I ask potential online employers so I can avoid being scammed? (kanang di pod offensive paminawon)
    2. Experts and online work veterans, how do you investigate the identity and the credibility of the person or the business?
    3. What needs to be bargained (aside from the pay)?
    4. What are the indicators that the employer I'm dealing with is a scammer?
    5. What things must I consider before closing any deal and taking the risk?

Thanks kaayo. I appreciate all your input. Newbie pa man gud ko. I know low kaayo ang pay sa US standards but okay man sya sa Pinas na standards.

Mods, sorry sa cross-posting. You can remove the same thread at the Career Center. Feel nako mas daghang makatabang diri na thread.

Sayon ra man sa spam kay ang usual content sa e-mail or popped message kay pa-clickon ka ug link, papaliton ka ug product, or ingnan ka na nakadaug daw ka ug raffle or you got something that you didn't even know you qualified for.

I meant sCam (with a C), hehehe. How can we tell a scammer from a legit entity if he (the scammer) posts a job in a legit or popular job board like craigslist or getafreelancer?

I got this from a previous thread and thought I'd share the info here:

A good lesson to learn. For freelancers, some tips below might help:

    1. Don't work without downpayment at most 50%.
    2. Sign contracts or a Memorandum of Agreement between two parties.
    3. Don't give everything (access information, website files, etc.) to your client unless full payment is made.
    4. Know your client very well."

This is what I meant in my first post. Keep your ideas coming.
