Unhappy boot-up problem...need help mga bros

this is so frustrating...just when i needed to type some requirements for school! nways, hope you guys can help...

i have a pentium4 2.4ghz on an asus p4s533mx mobo..256 ddr ram, with a recently installed geforce mx 4000 128mb. i'm running a non-authentic windows xp (which i installed years ago), and i installed this vistamizer app, which basically makes my windows xp look like vista...the problem started when i installed a newer version of vistamizer. normally, when i turn on the pc, the keyboard lights up and beeps and the monitor turns on...now, what happens is that when i push the power button, sometimes the keyboard DOESN'T light up, and there's no beep, and my monitor remains blank even though i can hear the cpu running....so i turn it off and on again. sometimes, the keyboard does light up and i go on until the windows xp progress bar during the bootup process. unfortunately, the progress bar freezes! so i turn the pc off again...i do this again and again until, luckily, i successfully boot up the pc...how can i solve this problem mga bros? aside from this, the clock doesn't show the right time after i turn off the AVR, so i guess the battery is drained...

your help would me much appreciated...

okey, u start there - replacing ur cmos batt. coz that can cause boot up problems when that's drained/dead. that's probably just it. when that's done check the bios settings & setup accordingly or just hit the 'optimized defaults' if u'r not sure & it got one. let us know.

i don't think this one has something to do with the cmos battery. this is only for saving time and BIOS settings, kung wala na power, it will just load to defaults everytime it's turned on but not with the symptoms you have.

my suggestion is try reseating the memory or try one at a time. if you have lots of expansion cards, remove all of them as well as peripherals connected to the system leaving only mouse keyboard and monitor.

this could also be an issue on the PSU not giving enough power to the components, if yo have a known-good PSU, try it kung wala, start with mobo and PSU only. if you hear the long beep error which usually means "no memory detected" add the RAMs one by one. After that, add your expansion cards one-by-one sad, each time checking if the system posts through the one short beep until ma isolate nimo ang problem.

this has got nothing to do with vistamizer or any software application installed in the computer. the issue is the computer sometimes doesn't POST. you have to understand that upon startup the BIOS is the first software loaded which will then hand the control to XP (operating system) later on.
