    Default needs advice for a 40k video editing rig.

    mga bro.

    its been said..multiple thinking heads is way much better than a multitasking one.

    so ..kindly help me mga bro..

    this is what im thinking for that price..for vegas and adobe...not for gaming

    an intel c2q6600 11390.00

    an MSI P6N SLI-FI nForce 650i 2pcie/S/L 6030.00 is this mobo gud enough?

    2 x 160gb Western Digital SATA 8mb in RAID0 (16mb cache total - drive c 4480.00

    1 x 500gb Seagate Barracuda SATA 16mb : files HDD 5560.00

    1 x Corsair 2GB XMS DHX 800 (1gb x 2) dual channel kit 2810.00 are these RAMS gud enough...

    1 x PC HD2600XT 512ddr3 128bit dvi 4680.00

    1 x Mars 337 / 834 A4 K/M 500w all colors CASING 1610.00

    1 x firewire PCI Card : CDRking 250.00

    1 x I-Master 750w 8-socket circuit breaker AVR 780.00 they dont have time to go to manalili to buy the servo.

    they wanted to buy an Imac @ 67K for that purpose..i think its too hyped up for that price..and these specs is way much better i believe..in terms of power and off the shelf upgradement..

    mga ugma mi pali sa pcx.

    for the monitor..we'll buy 2 x 21" SONY Digital CRT from Fastwin @ Php 2500.00 each

    ditch the nforce board, get a P35 and never turn back..

    Abit/Asus/MSI w/c ever brand you prefer is good enough, 160GB for a video editing machine is quite small.. the best price/capacity harddrives now are both 320 and 500gb

    For the videocard you can get something cheaper as it does nothing in terms of rendering.

    hmm digital CRT's that means DVI ?

    Since we are referring to hardware, why is the mac pro "the" rig for video editing ( aside from having Final Cut ) ?

    thanx for the input bro earlz..

    yeah its a raid 0 160+160gb sata with 8mb cache for a total of 320gb with 16mb cache thats much faster than a native 320gb for tha OS disk and scratch temp file for capturing..

    and a 500gb seagate with 16mb cache SATAII

    yes bro..sony trinitron Gseries 500 are digital capable.according to their site..anyways its available in 3 series ..E G and i for got the other one..

    i used both E and G type b4 ..

    e series for home and gaming..while the G series are for graphics and multimedia

    as for videocard..we wud want a decent card with inherent HD capability to handle the 2 x 21" monitors and maybe another TV for fly-out preview..

    tis is just a starter rig...

    as for memory..yeah..we were thinking of having it in 4gb..but sadly XP or vista 32 bit can only utilize 3.2gb ++ of the 4gb.

    but i was just thinking...

    is the 500watts enough for the job? since its a generic type apil sa casing.

    i had my q6600 overclocked to 3 ghz..
    using only a generic psu 500W, the one included in the casing... hehehe..
    so far so good, its been running 24/7 @ 100% load ...
    i'd recommend a p35 mobo.

    * Quad-core: One 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon 5400 series processor
    * Enhanced Intel Core microarchitecture
    o 12MB of L2 cache per processor (each pair of cores shares 6MB)
    o 128-bit SSE4 SIMD engine
    o 64-bit data paths and registers
    o Energy efficiency optimization
    * 1600MHz, 64-bit dual independent frontside buses

    Memory

    * 800MHz DDR2 ECC fully buffered DIMM (FB-DIMM) memory
    * Eight FB-DIMM slots on two memory riser cards (four slots per card) supporting up to 32GB of main memory
