Default Best FREE Android Apps 2012

I get asked everyday what apps to get...so i've decided to make a list with my own short review/description of each app i consider the best for Android devices. I will update as often as possible, add apps as i finish making my review and remove apps as they become irrelevant. if anyone has apps to share please post them below as well, thanks

    *********

DROPBOX online storage and cloud sync

everyone should have a DROPBOX. sync important files in all your computers and smartphones get access to them anywhere for FREE. (paid version available for larger capacity of 100GB to 1TB)
Always have your stuff from any computer, Android, iPhone, Blackberry, PC, Mac, etc. when you need it...

example: edit a file in the office, and finish it at home, no more USB flash drives needed (i actually stop bringing one since i got this app)
no more stuck with old versions of your documents. access ur files on any internet connected computer via the web browser.
on you PC, drag a picture into a folder using windows explorer, and its automatically available on your andoid phone.

click this link for a FREE account
after registering a free account you will be directed to download the app. you can use your phone or computer to use the link above.

JuiceDefender - battery saver (android exclusive)

this is the best app i have tried that effectively extends battery life on any android phone.
its super easy to use just enable it and leave it at balance setting or you can be a geek and tinker with its settings to control how the app works better for your needs.
it really works! try the free version for a week and you'll see the difference.
pay for the ultimate version for more features and customizability, its worth it.

    click link here

    *********

    Plug in Launcher (android exclusive)

this allows you to preprogram the phone to do tasks at certain conditions like when charger is plugged in, or usb cable is attached, or headphone is inserted in the jack etc.

example: when i charge my phone, i like it to run my battery app that way i get to see how long my charging will take etc. when i insert a headphone, music player activates and starts playing my tunes (same with hooking up lineout to some loudspeakers) that way no more fiddling with the phone to launch the player.

there is a pro version that adds bluetooth and wifi functionality and other features.
the free version's headphone function alone made it deserving to be in my list.

    TripIt Travel Organizer Free

This is hands down the best travel app i have ever tried. i use to love worldmate until i tried this.
TripIt also syncs with your gmail, when you get your Eticket, your flight info are automatically populated in tripit.
and with tripit API you can hook it up with other services (over 330 apps uses it) as well like having the ability to automatically populate your calendar with your travel plans as reminder.

the free version you can get here a no ad version is available for just 167pesos and a pro 49$ account gives you flight notification updates flight refunds reward points find alternate flights etc.

    Currency Converter
    by halmi.sk

most other converters offer 2 currencies only. I used to rely on worldmate currency converter because it offered 3 currency each time allowing me to compare pesos, USD and HKD when im in hongkong shopping. but it was slow to start each time and when i need further computations i need to launch a separate calculator. With Currency Converter by halmi.sk, not only did they convert 4 currencies at the same time, it also provides a built in calculator.

its totally FREE here but it does have ads but an ad free version is here for 38pesos

thanks j.abz, actually based on my initial assessment of flipboard is good if your screen is good, terrible for lowend android. pulse would be a better choice for smaller screen android phones and its also great with good screens. flipboard for android is quite new (it first came out on the galaxy S3) and would definitely could use some maturity. pulse is more mature in my opinion and integrates with more stuff out there (email, facebook, twitter, save to pulse, pocket, instapaper, evernote and readability.) has cloud sync and you can even view your feed on your computer browser but limitations on lowerend units with regards to rendering still prevents me from making a solid verdict.

but bottomline, both are good choices for reading content. but i think il give my verdict at a future date

keeping tabs on this one.. i like exploring available apps im just annoyed there isnt an easier way for me to get paids apps but only through a credit card or through debit (that seems to be lacking in the phils except for that one offered by BPI but have to pay P500 just to get one -.-).

i just started using airdroid and im liking it so far. wondered if you've used this or if you have better apps in mind do share.

i like the concept of this plug in launcher of yours. im going to give it a go.

also... i'd like to see what are good ms office compatible apps. ive tried office on a microsoft smart phone and so far none of the apps on android that i've tried have reached that level. i wish microsoft would just release for android..
