Default Synology to launch updated 4-bay NAS products, draws less power

At CeBIT, Synology was demoing a pair of new NAS products, both being 4-bay units with a fairly similar external design, but the internal hardware is quite different between the two models. The company has not only revised the internals, but the two new models share the new re-designed enclosure as well which looks similar to the DS212 series, albeit larger due to the additional drive bays.
The two new models are the DS412 and the DS412+ and common features includes a front USB 2.0 port, two rear USB 3.0 ports and a rear eSATA port. The DS412 sports a single Gigabit Ethernet port whereas the DS412+ sports a pair of ports. Both models also sport a pair of rear fans and Synology informed us that the new fans feature failover support, so in case one of the fans would fail, the speed of the second fan will increase to help cool the NAS box until the failed fan can be replaced.
The DS412 is Synology's most power efficient 4-bay NAS to date, as it draws a mere 3W in idle thanks to in part a new PowerPC based CPU. The DS412+ is intended for more advanced usage scenarios and sports an Intel Atom processor, most likely the D2500, but the company merely informed us it was one of the new models without going into details as the DS412+ hasn't been officially announced as yet.
The new NAS design is quite attractive, in as much as a NAS can be attractive, but we'd expect these two new models to be fairly pricey considering the hardware inside them. Sadly we don't know the exact launch date, but both models should arrive in the next couple of months.
