Smile VPN - Vikings, Pirates, Ninjas

Does anybody here play VPN Wars?
Here's my referral link: VPN - Vikings, Pirates, Ninjas
    ---

VPN is a fantasy RPG set in a virtual world with games, quests, combat, chat, forums, social networking, and a customisable animated avatar.

VPN Wars is made by Meteor Games, from the same people (Adam and Donna Powell) who sold Neopets to Viacom.

    v1.1.8 - Activities and Minigames

Switch Games - Fancy a game of chance? Head on over to either the Peaceful Monastery, Galleon Graveyard or Misty Lake and you'll see a new tab to click - Minigames. Our first one is a simple find-the-coin the game. Get it right and you'll earn some copper coins. Keep getting the right choice and there are some achievements up for grabs!

Plaice Your Bets - Our newest minigame features a couple of on-the-run con artists, Archibald Swindle and his assistant Finworth. They're looking to deprive people of their ill-gotten gains with their magical travelling game of chance. Achievements and a nice big jackpot are on offer, so what are you waiting for ... step right up and Plaice Your Bets!!!

*UPDATE* - We've added two more achievements that aren't as insanely hard as the other ones we added yesterday!

Coming soon... a VPN-themed version of Witchery 101 with achievements and items, and also the dreaded Wheel of Cats!

    Features

New MC Items - We've added some new items to the Meteor Store. No self respecting warrior would be seen dead wearing these!!!!

Tavern Updates Galore - We've just uploaded a new version of our Tavern Chat. First off, your chat colour is now saved between sessions so you don't have to keep reselecting your favourite colour. Secondly, you can now throw "die Tomaten" at each other. Simply click your target and select the tomato from the radial menu and let them fly!

We've also launched three new emotes. Now you can flirt with your friends, dance the night away and yawn when you get tired of both.

Forum Upgrades - You may have noticed that we've been steadily improving the forums over the past few days. We've organised it better, moved threads, and added stylesheets and art all over the place. Click here to create an account!

New Hairstyles - We've got quite a few more premium hairstyles for you to choose from in the Barbershop. One of which has been sported by a famous Meteor Games member of staff in the past

Minigame Change - Now you can play each Minigame 5 times per day on *each* of your characters, so you're no longer limited to your main. We think you can anyway, it may not work correctly first time.

Pet shops now have their own art!

New Navigation - We've redone the navigation to make it a bit clearer. Your profile picture is now in the upper left hand corner with a link to your inventory. Also if you've taken a picture with the Photo Booth and then refresh - your actual avatar portrait should display! We've moved the XP bar to the centre of the screen too so it's big and obvious.

Remember - if the screen ever looks messed up it's probably because we've changed our layout and for some reason your computer isn't downloading the new files. The best way to fix this is to do a shift-refresh. If that doesn't work then clearing your cache (or Temporary Internet Files) will probably work.New Buddy Icons - lots more Buddy Icons have been released, including this Ninja Ducky and quite a few from our soon-to-be released Witchery 101 revamp, Wavecharmer.

Energy Changed Again! - Eep, sorry, we've decided to reduce your energy by a factor of 5. Now you'll start off with 20 energy and gain one point per level. We got a lot of complaints that the numbers were too high. Although we like the fact that it doesn't scale up exponentially - we agree, it was a bit confusing.

We've also gone through a lot of quests and reduced the energy costs substantially. You should be able to do a lot more every 15 minutes now.

    Game Changes

That whole Activity/Minigame thing was a bit confusing. We've just called them all Minigames.

We've made the switch game a slightly more reasonable speed. You won't have to be D.A.R.Y.L. to get a high score any longer.

You can now wish luck to somebody on the same IP address as you. Lots of players at schools and universities were having problems with the luck buff you see...

    Bug Fixes

We've optimised a lot of the images on the front page so they're not so huge. Should be about 200k less now!

Photo Booth pictures will now appear in the top navigation bar in Facebook!

Fixed the Photo Booth - the image should actually update when you Take a Photo now.

Your level should now be dynamically updating when it changes

The amount of money that you had wasn't being updated dynamically in the new dropdown. That should be working now.

Fixed a bug where the character information wasn't minimising when you moved the mouse off to the left or refreshed the page. It's much less sticky now.

We fixed a bug where punk and afro hairstyles weren't being displayed properly.

    v1.1.11 - Player Housing

Welcome back to another week of Vikings, Pirates and Ninjas. Lots of updates, bug fixes and improvements on the way. We're going to be launching player housing this week (hopefully!) Every Viking, Pirate and Ninja will get their own house that they can decorate and invite other players into. Bear with us though it's a really big feature to add and we want to make sure that it's done right!

You may have notice that there's a new navigation to this page, and a Latest News link that doesn't do much right now. We're currently working on a bit of a redesign, so bear with us!

    --- Player Housing!!!!

So the big news for this week is that our player housing system is finally complete. To get the deed to a shiny new house head on over to your starting zone (Cutter's Cove, Forest Dojo or Hatchet Bay) and click the Quests tab.

There is one furniture shop live in each of the starting zones, selling great new items with which to furnish your house. Lots more on the way we promise!

    --- Features

    * New Nodes - So each of the three starting islands now has some new places to visit. For Vikings, why not head over to Olaf's Gym to work out. Pirates get Shorefist Lagoon and the rickety Highwayman's Bridge and lastly Ninjas can now hang out in The Dumite and Kawaguchi's Quarry.

There's quests, items and achievements galore ... and a very peculiar group of people calling themselves the "Roc's Claw". Good luck!

    * The Meteor Cam has just made a return. You can now watch the Meteor Games staff do crazy things like... work and have meetings!!!
    * We've added three more achievements that are awarded for beating your friends in Minigames. They're under a new "Minigames / Competitive" category on the Achievements Page. Get your friends playing, and tell them to get really low scores on purpose, and you're in business
    * Our Fame program just got a complete makeover. We've also given you the tools to tell people about VPN through a variety of networks like Digg, StumbleUpon and Reddit.
    * The Meteor Store now has a seperate category for Limited Edition items.
    * We've updated the Achievements Page so you can see the latest achievements that you've earned. We've also added a rank system - click the word "Points" to toggle between points and rank.
    * We've added loads more Buddy Icons!
    * Don't forget to check out the winners of our latest Fan Art Competition.
    * Now on your inventory you can see what all the blank slots actually mean with these great new icons ...
    * Added a 'Send Message' link to the friends page.
    * Facebook Upgrade - we went through our code and found some un-needed requests that were slowing the game down on Facebook. We've removed them - so if you're playing it on FB it should be super-fast right now!
    * This new Desktop Background will constantly remind you of the cute clam pet that is not yet yours.
    * We've added a 480x320 Mobile Wallpaper option for all those people on Blackberries.

    --- Game Changes

    * The (un)Lucky achievements have been changed so they only count for your daily luck roll. You can no longer boost your luck with the Wheel of Cats to get the achievement.
    * We've added a 'Priority' system to the way our quests are displayed. Now we have the ability to put some quests at the top of the page and others at the bottom. Basically, new zones are going to be a whole lot less confusing now
    * The energy that the minigames was giving out was a bit too high, so we've reduced the percentages slightly, especially after you've played 5 or more games.

    --- Bug Fixes

    * The new "Items Needed" display on quests was overriding the old "Repeat in X minutes" display. It's got less of a priority now so it shouldn't do that any more.
    * Fixed a bug with 'Tile Matcher' so that it's working now. We've also renamed the achievement to 'My Favourite Game' because it makes more sense. We were going to do a whole chain of achievements but we sort of replaced them with the Coin Collector one, and we forgot about Tile Matcher!
    * Fixed a bug on the achievements page where your friend with the 4th best score was not appearing.
    * The Quest Diary page was supposed to be sortable, but there was a bug in the javascript that was preventing that from happening. Hopefully that should work now.
    * Friends weren't appearing on the friends page in Google Chrome. We've fixed that now.
    * The "Black Cat" on the Wheel of Cats was so lucky that it just stopped working. This has been fixed now, sorry about that!
    * Now Wheel of Cats won't let you spin more than once... it was a bit confusing before.
    * We fixed a bug in Legends of Laundry where it was impossible to go back to the play screen after Game Over.
There was a bug in the switch games where it would count wrong guesses if you accidentally clicked the button twice, we've fixed that now.
