Default Exposure compensation - how does it work?

    My 2 questions are:

    1. is the exposure compensation 1-5 works in P,M,A and S settings?
    2. for example i use manual
    I use nikon D80.

Flash compensation is set to +1 (highest)
ISO is set to H1 (highest)
then shutter speed is 1/60 just minimum to prevent camera shake.

how does exposure compensation set at 5 works?

Hmm.. I don't think exposure compensation works with M or MANUAL mode.

Sa Av or Tv, for example if you set exposure compensation to -1, your cam will automatically select the shutter speed or aperture (apil pud ang ISO if naka AUTO) so that the exposure will result in an image nga -1 based sa light meter sa camera.

Use M and learn the Zone System. If imo subjects are human,

Exposure indicator values per skin color

Brown skin (Mexican, most Filipinos) = 0
    Caucasian = +1
    Light skinned Asians = + 0.5
    Dark skinned Africans = -1.5
    Light skinned Africans = -.5

The guideline is to expose for midtones (0) or any of the above and watch your highlights. I rarely follow this though as I dislike PPing nowadays. I don't care if unimportant parts of the photo are blown out. But if you want to save your highlights, then expose for them and deliberately underexpose your photos as it's easier to bring back details in the shadows. Best use RAW if you intend to do this as RAW files retain more info than JPGs.

    Good luck.
