Samsung Galaxy S4 rumor claims to be quad core A15, 13MP camera

The flagship Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone has been available long enough that it’s time we start focusing on its successor. We’ve been hearing whispers and rumors regarding the Galaxy S IV for a few weeks now, but today the details just got a bit more interesting. Reports of a February launch complete with a 13 megapixel camera and more.


We first reported on some leaked details last week, stating a 4.99-inch 1920 x 1080p full HD display with 441 pixels-per-inch, but now we’re hearing even more. According to a few tips, as well as the guys at GSMarena, the Galaxy S4 will launch in late February after Mobile World Congress and come with some stunning specs.
Reports are suggesting Samsung will toss their Exynos 5450 quad-core A15 processor inside this beast. That’s double the 5250 inside the Nexus 10. Equip it with a 13 megapixel rear camera, and of course we’ll enjoy Android with that 4.99-inch true HD Super AMOLED display. Initially we heard strong evidence that the Note II would feature that 13 megapixel camera but supply couldn’t meet Samsung’s demand, so it looks like this time around they’ll be straightened out.
Obviously we’ll be taking these rumors with a grain of salt for now, but they very well could turn out to be accurate. Samsung’s past Galaxy devices have been announced in March and April, beat by a few months by HTC and others at CES and MWC, so this year they could very well aim for February and beat all their competition to the market. it’s said that the new S4 will have a larger 5-inch OLED display, as well as a better camera than the S III. Under the hood, it’s rumored to have one of Samsung’s Exynos quad-core processers and 4G LTE. However, no major cosmetic changes are planned for the new device.
The rumor comes right after the announcement of Apple’s iPhone 5, a phone that has garnered a lot of attention recently. Samsung has said it wants to continue its one-year product cycle, but the S4 will be just a tad quicker on that, since it’s rumored to release just nine months after the S III. This will be roughly in the middle of Apple’s update cycle, so it makes sense that Samsung wants to let the hype of the iPhone 5 die a down a little before playing its cards.
Overall, it’ll be interesting to see how well the Galaxy S4 does in the midst of the iPhone 5. Samsung has already sold 20 million Galaxy S III units in a matter of three months, and the holiday season is yet upon us. We’ll have to wait and see what fun stuff Samsung pulls out of its hat come February at Mobile World Congress.

Another day another leak. With Samsung set to take the stage tomorrow evening live in New York City to announce and unveil their new Galaxy S4, we’re getting a few more high-res pictures and additional feature details tonight. While these come from the same leak as before, which hasn’t been confirmed as 100% accurate, we’re pretty sure this is legit. Imagine the Galaxy Note II S-Pen features without the S-Pen. Read on for more details.




The same Chinese forum has came through yet again this evening with an entire array of high-res images of the Galaxy S4. Showing it up close and personal in HD as we get a better look at that textured plastic design on the front, back, as well as that beautiful 1080p full HD 4.99-inch display. They even show off a few features we haven’t heard about until today.
Sadly it appears this units plastic battery cover already has a crack, so take that for what it’s worth. We’re not too worried about it because that removable back allows us to replace the now confirmed 2,600 mAh battery, as well as add storage with the micro-SD slot. So we’ll take it. They once again confirm the 1.8 GHz 8-core processor and 2GB of RAM, as well as a PowerVR SGX 544MP3 GPU for stunning graphics and gaming.





Then the image above shows an amazing feature we haven’t heard of until this evening. That being the same ‘hover’ feature found with the S-Pen stylus on the Galaxy Note II. It appears the Galaxy S4 will recognize the users finger and almost act as a stylus for floating menus and more. On the Note II this gives you a preview of pictures in a gallery without ever opening it, previews of videos, and much more. That would be quite a feature to have all while only using our finger.
Then the images also show off the already detailed Smart Stay eye tracking features we’ve been talking about for a few weeks. Features which will scroll automatically as your eye meets the end of a page, change pages when needed, and more. You can even see the Eye-Scroll enabled icon in the closeup image below.
