Default MTG and Yu Gi Oh: Why players can't go along with each other.

Firstly, I have never played MTG but I know the basics as I'm trying to learn the game.

Now, naka experience nako og mga MTG players na if makabaw sila na YGO player ko, naa dayon NERD reaction. Nag research ko ani sa net, ang reason daw nga mag lagot ang MTG sa mga YGO duelist kay:

    1. Mas nauna ang MTG.
    2. Pang adult ang MTG.
    3. Mas sophisticated ang MTG.
    4. Mas strategy base ang MTG.
    5. Mas barato ang MTG compared sa YGO.
    6. Mas balanced ang MTG.
    7. Mas daghan kag mahimo nga Deck sa MTG.
    8. EOP ang MTG (English only Policy) - Joke.

Aside sa number 8, wa jud ko kasabot jud aning mga reasons nga hater sila. Firstly, I know for a fact na halos 2 decades na ang MTG but it doesn't make the game better. Secondly, daghan adults mo duwa sa YGO, in fact ang mga international tourneys nila kasagaran adults ang mo duwa or ang mag abot sa final rounds. 3, never played MTG but I think the the sophistication on both levels are the same, with the tapping and the untapping of mana and tribute summoning. If you talk about strategy, all games are the same, since YGO is based on your decision on when to active, counter, attack or summon. Wrong decision can lead to ultimate failure for your deck to win the duel. 5, this I have to completely dis-agree, YGO players ako nailhan mga buotan kaayo kay maski class A ra na cards ako gamit, okay ra japon nila. While structure Decks in YGO is expensive, individual cards cost php 150-200 max. MTG on the other hand might cost thousands. 6, wa koy opinion ani kay wa ko ka duel sa MTG. 7, this is not true, it's just that lisod lang jud kaayo maghimo og imohang deck (not following the structure deck, like inzectors or antlantean).

Even if YGO player ko, interested pud gihapon ko mo duwa sa MTG, but if ing.ani ang mga players sa MTG, basin maka kita lang kog away, LOL. For YGO players, they're nice, they don't look like NERDS, and helpful. They don't claim superior kesa MTG, like nag ask ko if ngano snob kaayo ang tag iya sa NG, ingon sila kay YGO player daw ko mao na reason. LOL. But anyways, they have their game, and we have ours so stop the hatin'. If ganahan jud mo og strategy game, kay mao man jud na ang pinaka main reason nga nag hater sila, maypag mo duwa silag chess.

I'm not expert on both card games but I feel you, bro.
Mura ra gud ug DOTA 2 ug LOL-- dili gyud na sila magkasinabot.

As far as my knowledge goes to those card games, I think sa magic pwede ka magboot boot ug build sa imong deck (and still own) compared sa yugioh nga naay 'imba' nga deck and everyone else follows.

I think there is more than the reasons you stated, one thing I have noticed with players sa cebu bro is that most of them seem to have an elitist and barrio-barrio mentality. if dili ka apil nila or if you do not fit the profile that they share there is that subtle bullying and trash talking (like the way schoolgirls bully each other pa labtik labtik nga dili obvious kunohay )

this is not like what I experienced in manila where if they sense you are a new player they do their best to encourage you in your hobby and you can feel that when interacting with them.

kung naa na igo: ma-o gyud na ako na bantayan. taga cebu man unta ko but mas naa pa ko kinship ma feel with manila players than cebuanos. Why do they treat you like a nerd GTW (rhetorical ra, ni of course I don't mean you exactly)? ngano? if people pass you by and they see you with those kind of cards do they think hey these guys are cool? wala. nerd ra ghapn ila tan-aw nimo. pare-pareho ra man tingali mong tanan nga nerd sa panan-aw nila and that's what's funny about their attitude.

ma-o naka da-ot sa uban tawo diri sa hobby scene sa cebu, instead of fostering and respecting each other some seem to look down and show disdain not only with people who have different hobbies but even players of the same game nga dili apil sa ila "clique".

Some of these guys should change their attitude because in the end it is what it is.... only a game that is supposed to give fun not discrimination.

I have heard a lot of bad comments from the MTG duelists here in Cebu especially those people in JY Mall. I'm part of Yu Gi Oh Duelist in Cebu and I'm interested in MTG as well, but after hearing those things, I kinda changed my mind. There's a lot of bullies daw and some of the scammed newbies into trading their rare cards into something that is not really that rare. This is not promoting their hobby, this is discouraging newbies na nuon.

As of the moment I'm sticking with YGO, if there's another MTG community then I'll buy my first MTG Cards.

This I can refute bro. I have utterly destroyed Inzector build and I'm using a "Salad" deck which doesn't really follow the standards. And, I'm a living proof that this is not true. I have atlantean deck (my main deck) vs my friend which is a "salad" deck, he lost all the time, but then I said "ako kuno gamit sa imo deck", on our first duel I destroyed my own deck using his "salad" deck. This means that it depends on the duelist.

Actually in competitive MtG, especially in standard format, many people will net deck (copy or use a deck they find online, usually a deck that wins championship games as a base for their deck).

As a long time magic player, most of the guys I know are nice to noobs. Rare is it that I find rippers/scammers nowadays, especially with price check so easy to do now. Then again the community in Manila is Muuuch Bigger compared to Cebu.

As for complaints between games, you could say YuGiOh is a lot more simplistic in terms of gameplay that mtg, but also very imbalanced. (I hear the ban list is extremely big). With MtG, a lot of players complain it's still complicated even with the new rule sets. Also, there are turn one win combos in MtG but you can only find that in Legacy (old cards are legal, small ban/restricted list).

Also with MtG there are different formats so old cards don't go stale easily. In Manila, the Standard and Modern scene are very strong, also EDH/Commander.

Im a yugioh player... and I can say dili man siya "simplistic". There are lots of game mechanics, individual card rulings and general card rulings that you have to take into consideration all the time.. And to make it harder, one mistake can cost you the game. Yes some decks are imbalanced and as what we call them "tier 1", but that doesnt make them unbeatable.. Each deck has their own kryptonite. Its up to you how capable you are to counter their moves and to distort their playstyle.

People complain that yugioh decks are imbalanced because its hard to counter them. That's what makes the game difficult and complicated. It's not straight up solitaire, do this and that. You have tons of things to consider. Even your opponent's physical movements have to be considered too. Its a mind game at most.

PM me if you still play yugioh, or if you want to play it again.. I can help you start up.. Idk if aware mo, but there's an official shop and official tournaments going about weekly in ayala terraces..
