MICROSOFT is letting 100,000 guinea pigs download flaky versions of its upcoming Vista suite of cobbled-together programs.
The code includes what we used to call an operating system and has loads of stuff on top, designed primarily to leverage Microsoft's monopoly position.

^^You can't download this pre-RC1 anymore from MS since they have reached that 100,000 download. However, the proper RC1 will be released soon to the public.

To answer your question, yeah it is still in testing stages so it still a beta somehow so expect a few incompatabilities. That's the whole point of this preview program anyway.... for us to test it and report things that doesn't work. So you wouldn't be wanna using this to replace yer curent OS at this stage.

i DL'd this already a few dayz ago,..... i havnt installed it yet,...

i got this installed last night on my old AXP rig..and guess what?...RC1 is a very big improvement from the previous release..altough there's not much change being done on the UI, but the over-all performance is now faster compared to Beta 2..haven't experience hiccups so far and also one thing i've noticed is that the hard disk doesn't seem to be tasking..most of all, the ubiquitos and nagging User Control dialogs are gone [except when accessing Control Panel properties]

the problem I have right now are the hardware compatibility issues of my moto fon and my PixelView TV Tuner..i just hope they will release driver fixes soon

^^Yep. One of my test system here at home... had XP on one drive before I loaded this release of Vista on the other drive. Dual-booting works fine.
