Have heard that pairing a DDR333 RAM with DDR400 will eventually damage the DDR400. May I ask the experts here to help me get to the facts please? Thanks!

Myth. no damage will be done, your DDR400 memory will run at DDR333 speeds. worst case scenario unstalbe.. but no damage.Originally Posted by dongie

Facts? RTFM especially when you pair different kinds of RAM.
No damage will occur if you read and understand the motherboard manual (Recommended memory configurations, bios settings, chipset limitations). There's always a list of memory modules that have been tested and qualified for use for each motherboard. Check the manufacturer's website for updates.
Thanks for the input (and additional thanks for the kindness @EarlZ). Am asking because I have a 2x256MB DDR333 Kingston Value RAM on an Asus A7N8X Deluxe 2 mobo. Have had this very stable setup for 3 years now and am thinking of adding another 1Gb of Kingston Value RAM so thought I might as well go for DDR400. Problem was a friend said his experience on a DDR333 and DDR400 combination showed DDR400 damage a year later. Since I've seen a lot of help in the forums, was really hoping you guy could help me decide.
hehe... hostile na diay to bai?
well sorry if it sounded that way...
Read The Fine Manual. that's one way to get facts...
is that better?
bitaw dongie.. sayang imong DDR400 kay dili ma maximize iyang speed if sagulan ra nimo ug DDR333...
but then you can buy first the 1G DDR400... then sell the 2 DDR333. after that.. buy another 1G DDR400... that way, you'll end up with a fast RAM and 1 free mem slot.
hahaha naka lusot sa RTFM da! bilib ko anig cebutech =)

Some members then replied "Read The Fine Manual". Guess what? it got stuck in my mind.
I guess it's ok to use it use when you don't sound mad or angry... and when you're providing additional info or an overview of what to look for. It's definitely unpolite and rude if you just answer "RTFM"... the fact that it stands for what you're probably thinking right now.
mas burtal gyud ang reply nga
"RTFM"
then mao ra...
depende pud what the "F" COULD mean. hehe...
what about pairing a geil and a PQI? both ddr400.
