The Singapore International Photography Festival is back!
Singapore International Photography Festival (SIPF), is a non-profit biennial festival that strives to provide a platform for Southeast Asian artists to showcase their works alongside their international peers at various venues across Singapore.
SIPF is proud to announce the launch of the 5th edition of the festival this year! This edition of the festival boasts several firsts – works by three renowned photographers exhibiting for the first time in Southeast Asia and a showcase at six MRT stations along the Downtown Line.
Exhibiting their works for the first time in Southeast Asia in separate solo exhibitions, are critically acclaimed photographers: Daido Moriyama, the prolific “father of street photography”, Li Zhensheng, a photojournalist renowned for his photographic records of the Cultural Revolution, and Roger Ballen, whose award-winning works tread the line between fantasy and reality in ‘documentary fiction’.
The festival also showcases artworks by 40 artists from 18 countries in our Open Call Showcase, which will take place, for the first time, at six Downtown Line MRT stations, in partnership with the Land Transport Authority and Moove Media, Alliance Française de Singapour, as well as the National Library Building.
For deeper audience engagement and professional development, the festival has always initiated programmes such as portfolio review, talks, workshops and guided tours.
The 5th Portfolio Review will see over 10 local and international curators, publishers and editors sharing their expertise in the field with photographers seeking feedback on their works. Workshops conducted by artists, Boris Eldagsen and Mariela Sancari, seek to expose budding photographers to a greater variety of ways of exploring the medium of photography. Erik Vroons, editor of the GUP magazine, will also be conducting a workshop for photographers looking to develop a signature in their work. With the extensive reach to the audience in mind, the Magnum Workshop, in collaboration with Magnum Photos, intends to broaden the visual perspective of regional and international photographers.
