M.I.T.'s $100 Laptop to Launch this November

MIT Media Laboratory is expected to launch its $100 prototype During World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) on Nov. 17. Nicholas Negroponte, the lab’s chairman said its primary aimed at developing nations to close the digital gap.

I hope to see this Diri sa 'Pinas.

Some Specs:

500Mhz/1GB Ram/1megapixel screen. Running a strip down version Linux.
The laptop can be powered either with an AC adapter or via a wind-up crank, which is stored in the housing of the laptop where the hinge is located.

this is a good move. I hope maabot ni diri pinas so all schools can have PCs to help educate our Filipino brothers. Uwaw kaayo, we are in the heart of ASIA where technology practically breeds at, and our country is so behind. Japan, China, Singapore, Hongkone, an hour or two in time distance yet our technology fails to catch up. Tsk tsk.
