MISS CEBU 2016 PRE-PAGEANT NIGHT ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 9


The Cebu City Tourism Commission, Cebu City Tourism Foundation and the City of Cebuis inviting everyone to the Pre-Pageant Night of Miss Cebu 2016 on Saturday, January 9, 6:30 p.m. at the Ayala Terraces, Ayala Center Cebu.

Get to know the twelve official candidates as they journey toward becoming the 32nd Miss Cebu. The 12 beauties vying for the prestigious title this year are

The candidates will be in Fun Wear Creations made by some of Cebu’s top young designers. For the Opening segment, they will be wearing designs by Dexter Alazas. For the Mid Production Segment, the finalists will be wearing creative designs from Joyce Maw, Rei Escario, Mike Yapching and JP Cabigon. Maquillage will be provided by the Make Up Artists Club of Cebu. Entertainment will be provided by the UC Dance Company, Power Trio, Ana Fegi, Von Saw and the Knapsack Dancers.

Online voting for Miss Photogenic is ongoing at the Ayala Center Cebu and SM City Cebu voting booths until January 10, or vote at Miss Cebu 2016. Online votes will comprise 50% of the criteria for Miss Photogenic, 20% from Ng Khai, the sponsor of the online voting booths and 30% from the official photographers’ votes.

The Miss Cebu 2016 Coronation Night will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 6:30 PM at the Pacific Grand Ballroom of the Waterfront Cebu Hotel and Casino and will be aired live over ABS CBN Sports + Action Channel 23. Tickets to the Coronation Night are now available at the online voting booths, Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino and the Cebu City Tourism Office at the 2nd floor of the Rizal Museum and Public Library in Osmeña Boulevard. The Journey to becoming the 32nd Miss Cebu

It’s been a busy two months since the 12 official Miss Cebu 2016 finalists were presented in November. The journey to becoming the 32nd Miss Cebu is filled with a series of seminars and workshops to prepare the candidates physically, emotionally and mentally for the coronation night on Wednesday, January 13. With tourism being the main advocacy of Miss Cebu, trainings were held in partnership with different organizations and industry experts to provide knowledge and awareness on the sectors and industries of Cebu and further develop each candidate’s potential, character and personality, all geared towards holistic growth.

These include the Toastmasters communication workshop, workshop on communications with Margie Visitacion at Communications Arts Learning Center, media training with broadcaster Jun Nino, and dialogues with Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama among others. Together with the Make Up Artist Club of Cebu (MUACC), Jonas Borces trained the finalists on pageant essentials from the basics of runway walking, makeup application and wardrobe and jewelry selection. Learning to maintain the grace of a beauty queen, the finalists also attended a lecture on business etiquette and fine dining by HRRAC President and Marco Polo General Manager Ms. Julie Najar and lecture on social graces and protocol by Speechcom’s Dra. Milagros Espina.

The candidates were given a cultural background of the province with a workshop on Cebu history, culture and heritage led by Cebu City Tourism Commission Chairperson Tetta Baad, attended talks on the successful tourism industry of Cebu by Commissioner Alice Queblatin and DOT VII’s Kim Nino Cantero and lectures on business prospects and Cebu’s export industries by DTI’s Hope Melgar to give them further insights and knowledge on how to best promote and represent the Queen City of the South.

The candidates experienced Cebu City’s official cultural and heritage tour, The Pasiyo sa Kabilin, canyoneering in Alegria and discovered the wonders of nature in Camotes Island and Badian; as well as participated in several events such as Pasko sa Sugbo, CCTC’s Balik Cebu Program.

Online voting for Miss Photogenic is ongoing until midnight of January 10 at the online voting booths in 3/L Ayala Center Cebu, new expansion wing near Asian Home and SM City Cebu cinema lobby near the SM Trade Hall and at Miss Cebu 2016.
