suggested workstation hardware specs for 3d studiomax user

im a studiomax user, planning to buy a new workstation, unsay nindot na processor? pentium d? xeon is out of the question kay mahal ra kaau. can you post ur suggested hardware specs like processor, memory, mobos, harddisk, vcard? thanks so much for ur time.

for a start, AMD dual Opterons would be nice... :mrgreen:

for the video card: try the nVidia's Quadro series if you can afford one

- AMD Athlon 64 X2-based system all the way! Or the Athlon 64 series will do.
- 1GB to 2GB of any known brand of DDR400 RAM. (2x512 or 2x1GB configurations will do)
- go for any SATA-II based HDD's with NCQ.. (Samsung, Seagate, Maxtor, WD comes into mind), and go w/ a RAID-0 configuration for maximum performance
- any nForce4 based motherboard will do (though I'm not sure on what you really need since you mentioned the word "workstation")
- video card? Like what DSX said.. but the Quadro's quite expensive... you can settle for the standard VC's from ATI or nVIDIA like the GeForce 6 or 7 series or ATI's Radeon X series.

cuz studiomax today is still a single proc system software
so if ur going to buy now
its much wiser 4 u to choose fast single cores like Xeon, Opteron or FX-57

for v card either Quadro or FireGL

Max, does support SMP systems, do Hyperthreading and dual cores do help in the performance of 3dsmax, especially during rendering. especially using mental ray. high powered graphics cards however do not significantly increase 3dsmax performance during operations and even rendering. i do a lot of max and those are my observations
