For Catholics: Why Do You Remain Catholic?

What does being Catholic mean to you?
Ug nganong ni-remain ta nga Katoliko?

Although I cant obey the teachings 100% of the time and has struggled following it, I remain Catholic because I can see the sense of the Church's teachings.

Daghan ko nakaila nga 'Catholics' who chose to oppose church teachings because it is too "inconvenient" and was unacceptable to them.

Then I ask them: Why should you remain Catholic?

Anyway, we can join other churches man -- depending on what is convenient and OK for us. For example:

Anglican -- female priests, gay priests and bishops, same *** marriage, divorce, contraception, belief in Mary and the saints
-mixture of Protestantism and Catholicism

Episcopalian -- abortion is OK, Catholic in ritual but liberal in morality. divorce is OK

INC -- truly pinoy church, murag strict sa ila teachings. do not believe Christ is God

Evangelical -- free for all church, dili mag matter ang morality as long believe ka ni Jesus. more on worship.

Traditional Catholicism (SSPX) -- ancient in ritual but in schism with the mainsteam Church, strict in laws and morality. still considered protestant by the Pope.

DIY Christianity (Do-it-yourself Christianity) -- gisagul sagul ang (good?) teachings sa Catholicism, Hinduism, modernism, Buddhism, Islam. very liberal Christianity. you can believe what you want.

Ug daghan pa. Even Islam, Buddhism, Hindu, New Age.

Again, why do we remain Catholic?

i remain Catholic because there's no need for me to change my religion to see Christ.
after all, Catholicism is just denomination of the Christian faith. Jesus would rather have me identified as a Christian rather than being Catholic or any other denomination. our goals are the same anyway..
i don't worship saints or mother mary, i merely asked them to pray for me to be more closer to Jesus.
i honor mother mary because she's Jesus' mother and i honor her because of her obedience to God..
and she's my mother'cause Jesus is my Big bro
the life of the saints inspire me.
i do not worship the images but i look at them when i pray 'cause they are just mere representation..
and i'm fine without them as well.it's just like talking to a distant loved ones through their photos..
i attend Catholic mass regularly and sometimes visit protestant churches in their services.
i follow the sacraments of the Catholic church.i don't have issues about how the Pope and Bishops running the church..they have more wisdom anyway, and whatever is in his heart, God knows it and He's the only one who can judge
i don't have issues with religion so i remain Catholic.

Yes, sadly most Catholics today are uncatechized -- just going to Mass then wala na. We are supposed to share and live the faith.
The word Missa in latin literally means "to send".

And yes, worship should only be reserved to God,
We just honor Mary and the saints and they are to be viewed only as examples of Christian living.

We may have issues with the church leaders but take note that a lot of ordinary people became saints during the corruption of the Renaissance, when the church is at its lowest.

In short we just have to abide by the teachings and trust our conscience on what is right and wrong.

same her, institutions/religions doesn't matter more than you living your life in god will and sacraments.
