How to backup contacts and messages in android

Guys, do you know how to backup contacts and messages in android version 4.2.2?
It's an alcatel one touch magic phone.

I've tried a third party app but it's not free.
Is there a way where you can do it without buying the software or just a free app from android?
Please share your ideas.

i think it's very safe to backup your sms and contacts to computer, and as you know, we can't transfer them to computer just via the usb cable, but there're many data transfer apps could help.

sa contacts.. Google account raman ako gamit pag sync
and if naa sa sim, di man mawala ang contacts
