I'd like to invite anyone interested to a guitar workshop I plan to hold, which will be about the following topics:
1.
FINGER DEVELOPMENT - before you learn how to hit the right notes, you have to know how to hit the notes right. I will teach you a workout that will develop and improve finger STRENGTH, FLEXIBILITY & ACCURACY.
2.
THEORY - Before we can break the rules, we have to know what the rules are. I will teach practical knowledge of music - important musical scales & positions - that will allow you to create chords, chord progressions and proper guitar solos. Don't worry, you don't need to know how to read notes. I'll make it so that you'll actually be able to SEE NOTES in your head.
3.
APPRECIATION - the most important component of learning music is listening, and after teaching basic theory, we'll be listening, dissecting and studying the works of Guitar Gods like HENDRIX, CLAPTON, SANTANA, JIMMY PAGE, RITCHIE BLACKMORE and many more.
4.
IMPROVISATION - my goal is not for people to copy solos. In fact, my main objective from all this is to eliminate the "sepra" mentality prevalent in Cebuano Music. Hopefully, from all this, you will learn to develop a style of your own and play with authority.
Length and Duration
I initially want this to run for 4 sessions - 1 for every topic I've written down. Each session will run for more than an hour, but not more than three.
Number of Participants
I'd like to get at least 5 participants. I prefer a group atmosphere because it facilitates creativity and exchange of ideas.
Requirements
Participants must bring an acoustic guitar, a pick, a pencil and some paper.
Cost
I'd like to charge P 150/session or P 500 for all 4. But, if we can get more than 5 participants, then I will gladly lower the fee, so invite your friends as well.
This will include a CD with music from various artists, and paper printouts of musical scales and diagrams.
Venue
My house if less than 10 participants.
Schedule
This will be conducted preferably on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, schedule to be decided upon later by the group.
