12:45AM local time actually
"Geminids are predicted to reach peak activity on Dec. 14 at 16:45 GMT.
That means those places from central Asia eastwards across the Pacific Ocean
to Alaska are in the best position to catch the very crest of the shower,
when the rates conceivably could exceed 120 per hour. "
Constellation Gemini (the twins) is just overhead so won't won't miss it. If
you could identify planet Mars then you're gazing at the right direction. The
red planet is just so near Gemini. See sky chart below.
Unfortunately, weather forecast is said to be scattered clouds to overcast skies
but maybe, just maybe, the heavens will cooperate during this time.
Cross your fingers and hope for clear skies.
It's time to pay attention at the night time sky we used to ignore and prepare
for a celestial fireworks display. Awaken your inner-child; watch twinkle, twinkle little
star and 'falling stars'. Oops! Don't forget your wishes.
