VUDU :::: The New Era
PRESS RELEASE:
VUDU Turns 8 this Sinulog
January always marks two important milestones for VUDU: the annual Sinulog celebration, to which Vudu hosts power-packed parties for local and foreign revelers and Vudu’s birthday. The year 2009 ushers in Vudu’s 8th anniversary as the preeminent and definitive night lifestyle destination in Cebu and perhaps the whole Visayas & Mindanao regions.
To mark the eternal eight cycle of its existence, Vudu recently underwent a major renovation and its reemergence is a tribute to the Cebuano ingenuity, focusing on aesthetics and fusing together the different aspects of Cebu’s creative industries. The new design is by Architect & Environmental Planner Joy Martinez-Onozawa of Environmental Designs Inc. Onozawa's design was inspired by Kenneth's Cobonpue's invaluable inputs on what would work best with the existing space.
Vudu accents and furnishings are from some of Cebu's furniture & accessories companies such the main chandelier by Proteus Inc., hanging lamps and accents by Hive and Avatar and mirrors and wall fixtures by Aurora Detalia. The only thing that remains from when Vudu first opened in 2001 is the distinct mural by artist Jon Unson. Staff uniforms are by young designer Vania Romoff and a new menu has been developed Chef Miguel Martinez making Vudu truly an epitome of the best that Cebu can offer.
Vudu’s evolution continuously raises the bar in the industry and shapes the city’s night scene. JP Chiongbian, CEO and the brains and visionary behind Vudu says “Vudu’s resiliency stems from having the foresight to predict and identify the lates trends, offering Cebuanos what they need, good service and value for money” Jay Chiongbian, Vudu’s new CFO/COO also adds “We’re not only here to give Cebu a good night scene but also to show the rest of the Philippines and the foreign tourists that Cebu is a growing cosmopolitan city that is continuously on the upswing and Vudu tries to exemplify this characteristic by giving services and amenities of world-class standards”
To celebrate this milestone, Vudu is proud to present this year’s lineup for the Sinulog and anniversary parties dubbed as THE BIG 8.
To kickoff the weekend on Friday, January 16, Embassy Superclub’s resident RnB DJ Johnny Verse aka Jon Herrera heats up the Main Room along with Cebu’s very own DJ Kutlyfe with resident DJ Maxie Perez spins house at the Privé Lounge. On Saturday, January 17, the illustrious Natural Born Klubbers’ (NBK) triumvirate Nicky Jurado, Bombi Balquiedra and Manolet Dario, pioneers in the Philippines house music scene will play a variety of pumping big room house, electro and mixes. On Sunday, January 18, Cebu’s most anticipated celebration – Sinulog – will be capped off by performances by no less than Manila’s LOCAL//:e! featuring live electronica music by Neon8, Silverfilter and couchLab.
In its eight years, Vudu has indeed become a force to be reckoned with and has established itself as a local brand, one that Cebu can call its own and truly be proud of. It has gotten the attention it deserves, as a local landmark and institution from domestic and foreign visitors who continue to rhapsodize about the Vudu experience
Vudu is located at the Crossroads, Banilad, Cebu City and is open daily for happy hour, dinner and after hours from 5:30 p.m. onwards. Vudu is also the ideal venue for private functions, exclusive parties, product launches, company events and social gatherings. For more inquiries, please log on to

Manila, Philippines. This Producer was put on the map by his flavorful approach to any genre of electronica he puts his hands on. Known for his versatility and styles ranging from banging techno, to funky house, to aggressive drum and bass, to lounge and chillout, silverfilter is a man without limits. All these are brought out in the open through his live electronic sets, which are definitely an experience. Running his home indie label, Vanilla Crush, he has produced and released two albums done exclusively in his home studio, Switch. His music, made up of beat-driven patterns and catchy hooks, is best experienced on the dance floor where the booming basses, pulsating beats and the infectious vibe can easily be felt all over.
Silverfilter can claim an essential part in the rise of live dance music in the Philippines due to his hard-hitting dance sets, which leaves partygoers no choice but to move and groove. Fusing the live experience to the DJ vibe, every silverfilter set is sure to be the best of both worlds and has proven to entertain crowds from all over. Silverfilter's live performances and his original tracks have already proven to be ear candies to floor-fillers, making him one of the most sought after electronic music producers in the industry.

Juno Oebanda has helped shape Manila’s musical landscape, in more ways than one. Be it DJ, director or musician, he wears each hat with finesse and has made a respected name for himself in the live event and pro DJ industries.
He knows the live event industry intimately, having literally worked his way up through the ranks. He paid his dues as a studio recording engineer and an A&R person for a major record label CBS, and then moved into the live events scene. He began at the very bottom, from utility to production assistant, to audio spinner, to technical direction, and finally to overall direction of events.
His technical expertise, innate musicianship and creative perfectionism set him apart, and by the time fate set him on the path to being a pro DJ, he was already well-known as a director.
Pioneered and perfected the live-DJ-in-a-fine-dining setting, and became the toast of Manila's crème de la crème. Juno and his partners quickly built a reputation for being a versatile trio of DJs who can create an eclectic mix of electronic music influenced by the sounds of many musical genres.
Unconfined by any particular tempo or vibe, they assimilated ideas found in jazz, bossa, latin, soul, funk, and even classical music as easily as they did those found in house, drum-and-bass, and electronica. Varied as these ingredients were, the result was an easy, sophisticated vibe that frees the mind and soothes the soul, and as the name "couchLab" connotes, they have never been afraid to experiment to find the best sound for every situation, audience, or setting.
