During his time with the Memphis Tigers, he was able to get two of the best players in their respective class... Derrick Rose and Tyreke Evans. And the list goes on when he transferred to the Kentucky Wildcats. Current NBA players John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, Patrick Patterson, Brandon Knight, Eric Bledsoe, Enes Kanter, Daniel Orton have been Calipari recruits. Incoming rookies Anthony Davis, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Doron Lamb, Terrence Jones, Marquis Teague and Darius Miller(he played for Calipari, not sure nuon if narecruit ni siya ni Cal) have been added to the list.
This coming 2012-13 NCAA season, Kentucky will be bolstered by future NBA draftees Nerlens Noel, Alex Poythress, Archie Goodwin, sophomore Kyle Wiltjier while former NC State guard Ryan Harrow has transferred to the Wildcats, probably bcoz of his gud track record.

In maybe John Calipari
this latest development might trigger top high-schoolers to follow suit at Kentucky, with Julius Randle and Jabari Parker getting a decision soon. The top player of 2014, Andrew Wiggins, son of former Ginebra import Mitch (one of my fave imports of all-time), might also follow suit once he re-classifies to the 2013 class. Or even if he stays at 2014 he could still be snatched by Kentucky.

So is he the best recruiter of all time?

I don't really follow college basketball, but based on the list of his recruits, it says them all. I don't know him eagerly, but maybe he has a convincing and good college basketball program in which top high school prospects want to be with him.

He's a keeper for UK College Basketball. Based on his success to the college basketball, why he had a short stint on NBA pro? Maybe his career is best suited in college.

Calipari's secret is William Wesley, aka "Worldwide Wes", who has been around US college and NBA basketball since the late 1980s, and apparently exerts great influence on the game. This is the article on him that I read a couple of years back, and which has a discussion on his link to Calipari:

The thing about being a head coach of a college team , you are also a head director for men's basketball recruitment . He can get players that he wants whereas in the NBA the GM does the drafting and signing players . Other thing about Calipari is that he was involved in some questionable activities from his early NCAA days and recently . I remember about Camby received payments and it costed UMass during that year's NCAA tournament . I remember about someone took D-Rose SAT test - it may be orchestrated by Calipari or not . Also , the NCAA found out that Eric Bledsoe's high-school transcript got altered while playing for Calipari . I'm not accusing Calipari of being responsible for giving cash , grade cover-ups and etc because I don't have any evidence to present to begin with . All I can say is that he has some questionable activities .

Well , UK has a great basketball program and it's a great school so it could be the school's reputation that as a result Calipari is able to get quality players .
