Plot Synopsis
An action-packed sci-fi thriller, Casshern blends Japanimation and manga-inspired live action resulting a new kind of hybrid filmmaking that is both visually stunning and thought-provoking. The human cast propels the action against a backdrop of CGI, special effects, and a wide range of animation techniques, from state of the art to simple stop-motion animation. It is late in the 21st century. After 50 years of devastating war between Europa and the Eastern Federation, the latter has emerged victorious, and the new federation of Eurasia is formed. There can be no glorious peace, however, as the planet has been ravaged by chemical, biological and even nuclear weapons and the entire human race is dispirited and exhausted by half a century of war. A geneticist named Azuma brings hope in the form of a "neo-cell," which can rejuvenate human parts with no risk of rejection. But nature interferes with science to create a new kind of menace that forces the entire human race to fight an ultimate war against its own extinction.

I absolutely loved this film! the story is a bit uhmmm....anime-ish, but that's cool with me since based man gyud siya sa karaan na manga, pero gi base kno sa hamlet kuno.

it starts out slow (expected from a japanese film) pero sus! nag ka cool ang salida

STYLISH kaayo ug art direction ug cinematography!!!! GRABE!!! TOP NOTCH PRODUCTION VALUES GYUD!
action sequences, sus! style sad! to think this was a low-budget film ($6million)

anyways, the other reason why ni care asad ko aning salidaha, kay ang director kay si Kazuaki Kiriya, tig direct na siyag music videos...and siya ang asawa sa akong fave jap singer UTADA HIKARU ^_^

well, I'm sure some here has seen some of utada's videos, siya ana, go figure! basta! nalignaw gyud ko aning salidaha

siya pud sa theme song sa movie na ni, kadtong "Darekano"...maypagka ballad...

this movie will be picked up for US release by Dreamworks

Kazuaki Kiriya is undoubtedly the best! Coming out of NYU, he dominated the Japanese MTV scene with the outstanding videos of his now wife, the pop star Utada Hikaru!

Truly brilliant! Truly unique! His genius shines with the light of a thousand stars!

i think so.. actually you want to know the really cool thing? this is his second first feature... unbelievably this guy was able to direct CASSHERN AND DEVILMAN(another manga-inspired pic) nearly simultaneously...

hmm.....the movie is nice in terms of special efx, but i like it more in the anime version...hehehe....but these movie is much better than Devilman..so ig uess its worth checking..i have seen this last month...along with latest of Miyazaki piece.
