Any Linux Geniuses in here? My new company use PCs that run on Mandriva Linux OS. I don't wanna leave my yahoo messenger community behind. Any suggestions on what instant messaging I can use with this?

There's a (outdated) Linux/Unix Version for Yahoo http://messenger.yahoo.com/messenger/download/unix.html, but I prefer using Gaim, http://gaim.sourceforge.net/, since naa sad Chikka plugin (http://chix.sourceforge.net/) which you can install.Originally Posted by Sales_Leads
GAIM, I've been using it since its inception.. naa na may link above.. I can't find any better solution but beware lang some features of your Y! Messenger kay wala sa GAIM but it serves its purpose if all you want is chat diba? And also beware the pains of software installation in Linux.. but once you've managed to install it, smooth na ang operation...
But as with all Linux installs and assuming your sys ad had security in mind, only root/administrator accounts can "install", so if you don't have an administrator account, your out of luck...
try this http://www24.meebo.com/
you only need a browser.
Now this is the best alternative :mrgreen:Originally Posted by ares623

if it's asking too much...would there be any browser-based chat where i can use mirc?
I can't recall if firefox is part of the standard install of Mandriva but if you have firefox or mozilla, you can try ChatZilla, https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/16/Originally Posted by Credit_Cards
