Default [Special Force] M4a1 Guide and Tips on how to use it!

    1. What is the M4A1

The M4A1 is widely regarded as the most versatile weapon in SF. It is light, can deal a lot of damage in a short time and is capable of outgunning any sprayer in Soldier Front at close, medium or long range. When used correctly, it can be deadly against any foe, sprayer or sniper. In this guide I'll show you how to use your M4 in the right place at the right time.

1.1 List of Pros / Cons

    Pros
    - Accuracy
    - RoF*
    - Versatile
    - Light
    - Reload Time
    - Recoil and Spread
    - Easy to use and master
    - Cost

    Cons
    - RoF*
    - Damage (in comparison to AN94 / AK74)

*Can be useful but in short range you'll find yourself reaching for your pistol in no time.

    1.2 Damage

The M4A1's damage varies over range, as with all sprayers. These pics were taken from different distances. Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket This link has all the damage pics i made for the M4. I didn't post them in the guide directly because it took up too much space. I might do that some other time.

1.3 How to use the M4A1

The M4A1 is very versatile, meaning it can be used in almost any position, condition or disposition. It doesn't feature great power but it's lightness makes up for that. However, before you grab your gun and rush off, you'll need to learn a few lessons on how to use the M4A1 properly.

    1.3.1 Close Range (2-8m)
The M4A1 is most powerful at short range, but no more powerful than other sprayers such as AK74 or AN94. It's lack of damage can be annoying at short range. Therefore you need to evade. Jump, run, duck, do anything to stay out of the opponent's crosshair and you'll be fine. Don't sit still and gun, or you'll be dead meat. Jumping up, and jumping again as soon as you hit the ground is called bunnyhopping. This is what most M4's use as their main evasive tactic. CrouchJumping is more effective when bunnyhopping.

    1.3.2 Medium Range (8 - 25m)
When in medium range, you need to first determine whether your foe is a sniper or a sprayer. In the case of a sniper, you can either rush quickly jumping left-right-left-right to avoid being shot, or fall back and throw smoke and/or flash grenades to blind your foe and then rushing. In the case of a sprayer, you can either fall back, rush him while gunning him, or decide to crouch and shoot. Crouching and shooting enhances your accuracy and reduces aim and spread, but it's risky. You're an easy target for sprayers and snipers alike. Only use this method in Medium Range when the target isn't looking for you, doesn't notice you or is running away. Otherwise it would be wiser to duck for cover, or nade & rush.

    1.3.3 Long Range (25 - 65m)
Sprayer: Crouch and gun (but try to hide yourself as much as possible, if there's a box nearby, use it!), Sniper: nade, flash, smoke, and try to gun from behind a box, or rush him. Optionally you could attempt a backstab or assume a more advantageous position. At this range, killing will become a bonus, not a necessity. Just try to lit them as much as possible so either you or your teammates have an easy time on them later.

    1.3.4 Pick Range (65 - ...m)
Don't even try, possibly attempt to hit the other player, but don't go for the kill. Just remain unnoticed and try to set up an ambush for him in the direction he's going.

    1.4 Bunnyhopping

Ever watched a ksf / usf video, in which the person makes a multi kill right in the face of three other sprayers, and outguns all three of them without even dieing? Wondering how they manage to evade that hail of bullets? The answer is simple: Bunnyhopping. Bunnyhopping is one of the most essential skills when using the M4A1. It takes some time to master but it's not hard.

    1.3.1 Different kinds of jumps
First you need to learn about different jumps. I myself have at the moment discovered 5 types of jumps.
    - Ordinary Jump: default key: spacebar. A simple jump.
    - High Crouch Jump: In this jump, press control and hold, then press spacebar. You'll jump higher but less far than usual.
    - Far Crouch Jump: Important. You press control and spacebar simultaneously while running, and you'll go farther and higher than usual. This jump is essential to bunnyhopping. It's not that hard to do but can be difficult to get right at first. After a while it becomes second nature.
    - ?? - Secret jump.
    - ?? - Secret jump.

    1.3.2 The art of bunnyhopping
When bunnyhopping, you'll be using the Far Crouch Jump. The principle is simple: You jump to one direction, and as soon as you land, jump again, when evading in another direction. Do this all the time, it should be easy to master. It may be wise to use another gun to practice it (P90 or Uzi), but the M4 should be easy enough. You can also practice with knife. Bunnyhopping can be done with any gun, including snipers. It's essential for M4A1 evasion. When in someone's face, simply bunnyhop left-left-right-left-right-right-left-diagonallyleft-right-left-... and so on, make sure not to do : left-right-left-right-left-right, because the opponent will follow your pattern and you'll be dead meat. Make it as unpredictable as possible.
