so for me, there's no need to worry that other minorities will make claims for they have been given already.
AFAIK there's only one autonomous region in the Philippines. While the provinces with minorities are grouped together such as CAR and CARAGA, they haven't gone as far as asking for autonomy like ARMM. Is there really a need for an autonomous region? Anyway, I'm concerned about the groups that are not satisfied with the Framework agreement because they want more. I wonder how far our government can compromise.

MANILA, Philippines - Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago on Monday expressed concern over constitutional amendments required by the framework agreement of the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

Santiago, chair of the Senate committee on constitutional amendments, said the Constitution needs to be amended to fulfill the agreement's provisions granting the Bangsamoro state a ministerial form of government and making it a "sub-state."

The creation of the Bangsamoro's Basic Law would also call for constitutional amendment, she added.

"Our negotiators have tied our government and the hands of the Filipino public with respect to these amendments," Santiago told reporters. "If we do not pass these amendments, then the framework agreement will be discarded, and then we'll probably be made to answer why we are responsible for making it a failure. That's not fair to the Filipino public."

In effect, Santiago added, the framework agreement makes the Constitution the subject of a treaty.

"I am very, very concerned. Our own Constitution is being the subject of a treaty. Since when did a foreign entity have the power to compel our people to pass amendments to our Constitution?" she said.

Santiago said she won't file a petition before the Supreme Court questioning the agreement and will wait for others to do it because she will part of legislative deliberations on the matter.

However, she vowed to stand against the agreement when it reaches the Senate.

    -------

One thing very striking in the agreement is that it was made "in accordance with the agreement of both parties" when it should have been better said "in accordance with the Philippine Constitution". Mura man ug silasila ra ang gasabot.
Mura na-igo ako analysis pag basa nako sa Draft .. wala naka clause nga Sub-State but klaro kaau ang agreement gihatag najud sa goberno ... unconstitutional .... this agreement is a failure ....

    this............

i won't argue with the accusation that whatever abnoy is doing, i am all 100% supportive of it, just like anyone else i am reading both sides.. although, i have made it a point that i do whatever i can to help people understand that we are moving towards the tuwid na daan, not perfect yes but we are gradually and slowing moving towards it..

anyways,.. Ont: just like most of us i am wary that this move might be abused but i am supporting this for "peace" sake.
who knows, with confidence between both sides things will be better.. i am for one is against giving the Moro a separate state or sub-state but if only this is the only road to peace, then with humility from my heart, i might concede..

thats just me, and i know my opinion doesn't matter at all in all of these processes ..
