I've been to Iligan, CDO and Bukidnon. To be quite honest, I feel safer walking in the streets of Iligan at night than in my own city. It's odd but I still want to live in Cebu. Security is not always the case why people chose to live in a certain city, my friend. Because if your assumption is correct, Cebuanos and tagalogs would have gone to Davao long time ago. People in New York or LA would have gone to Montana but that's not the case in a real world, is it? Ang mga tawo gnahan jud na mupuyo kung asa to mas nindot og economiya kai adto man sila mabuhi... Ang2x man sad og manrabaho sila og CEbu or Manila nya magpuyo sila sa Davao. When I hear the name Mindanao, Davao and CDO always pop out of my mind. Because I know these 2 are the biggest City and each has a lot to offer. Ganahan ko mo bakasyon anang mga lugara but still want to live in Cebu

Cebu is a combination of Manila and Davao. Populated, crime infested(kunuhay) yet laid back. Wala sad tawn mi kidnapping diri and bombing. Manila, uso kidnapping og bomb scare. Snatchers nuon og mangingilad daghan. Bsag sa Manila ang mga mangingilad taga Cebu.
Say whatever you want to say about Cebu. I'd still want to live here more than anywhere else, so do these 3,500,000 people nga gahuot sa gamay nga Isla sa Cebu.

how many times do i have to tell you, i wouldnt be here if the claims from Davao peeps are true about Cebu.

why would i stay here if its HUGAW, NOT peaceful and orderly... i think its common sense. i would rather stay in CDO or in Davao if Cebu is just like what you think of.

wala ko kasabot nimo, paki clear imong point, wat do u mean were very fine economically inspite of ourself? nanganhi na gani uban Dabawenyos unya fine japon?

why would you debate on the "progressing" issue when i was referring to peace and order of Davao. wat im tryin to say is if Cebu is hugaw, dili safe, kabi-kabila ang crimes why would they still live here and not relocate in Davao? and i believe Davao is a booming city also, right? if trabaho lang ang reason why naa sila dri, does it mean wala silay mapangitaan ug work diha sa Davao? why chose Cebu, why not Bacolod, Baguio, Iloilo, etc when ang Cebu pugad ng mga snatcher man kaha? pugad ng mga hold-uper man kaha, hugaw man kaha?

ill make my statement very clear with a question, are you sure about what you are claiming about Cebu? if yes, balik ug basa sa taas...

Most people's answers here are completely senseless. It became a thread of who's bigger. Instead of logically assessing the pros and cons of each city all your doing is attacking each other baselessly and using "facts" that are gained simply from the Internet or hearsay. To truly understand a place, you live there for years not days or visits. You look at it from your experience of living and it's historical context. I can't say much about Cebu because I have not lived there nor know the history or present day condition and future plans of the city but the time I did go there, I enjoyed it relatively. Yes it's more economically progressed compared to Davao because of the age of the city. Cebu in itself is a small area, not withstanding metro Cebu. Because Davao is not considered Metro Davao in actual terms. So let's stick with Cebu city and Davao city. Going back, my personal experience of Cebu had both positive and negative areas. I liked that it's urban development in terms of malls and buildings and such is there. But a city's livability extends far more than having tall buildings and nice malls or hip clubs. It's in the quality of living ie cost of living, transportation, health costs and services, education, pollution, infrastructure, utilities, etc. Going back, I found Cebu dirty in some parts, and felt like it was turning into maybe something like one of the NCR cities. And that is my extent of opinion on Cebu. Now going to Davao, you have to look at it in it's broader historical context as being part of Mindanao. Davao city was chartered just a scant 70+ years ago conpared to Cebu. It is also located within Mindanao which has been in great upheaval in the past few decades so who in their right mind would invest here, hence development has only started in the last few years, mostly centered around Davao but also CDO,Gensan, just the cities and immediate vicinities. Now going back. It's only been in the last two decades that Davao has found some sort of development and more recently within the last decade as really picking up. In terms of quality of living, let's examine them in Davao. Education, there are plenty of good schools here, some of them in the list as the top of the Philippines. And the education level of graduates here is I wouldn't say high according to my standards but some polls say Davao has some of the most developed, easily accessible and educated human resource pool on the country. And concerning the whole Tagalog thing. What's the big deal Kung mag Tagalog ANG mga Tao diri? Dili ba Filipino atong NATIONAL language? Dili diay ta mag istorya sa atong NATIONAL language? And besides going to the history of the city, the original settlers were from Luzon in the first place and only later in Davao's history did people migrate from the visayan regions. People here don't consider it cebuano they are speaking because in actuality it's visayan. Mostly cebuano but with many adopted words and phrases from several local dialects, same with Filipino Tagalog but with many local dialects thrown in. In terms of pollution, because of the slower development of Davao and the current city administrations focus on good urban planning, pollution is mitigated. Not as many factories and polluting industries, etc. LGUs and local businesses are working together to keep Davao clean because of it's development plan to create an "Eco city". And if you look at the streets in Davao, it is super clean compared to most big cities in the Philippines. For its water, did you know that it takes 100 years for the water davaoenos drink to be filtered through the earth. Thats why davao is so aggressive in trying to keep its water shed clean. In terms of safety, Davao is the safest city in the Philippines bar none. With a .6 per 1000 crime rate, its the lowest in the Philippines. Yes there have been terrorist attacks but so has Manila. Many more in the last few decades than Davao has. May I also remind you new York, London, Madrid have had terrorist attacks at much greater scale? Terrorists seem to target cities that have importance... Pun intended... I have never felt unsafe walking around davao at 3 in the morning even though I'm a foreigner. Even if I'm surrounded by prostitutes. Even then, the prostitutes are even being supported by the government through monthly checkups. Cost of living, yes Davao is very cheap and that's because it's situated in the bread basket of the Philippines which is Mindanao. Food is cheaper in general, cost of living ie rent and transportation is cheap. Transpo is cheaper because the urban area is smaller so it won't take as long to get from one place to another. In terms of health services, Davao is more or less the same with most major urban areas though several health service investments amounting in the billions of pesos are planned within the city. Urban and city development. Davao as being historically an agricultural community, obviously won't have a lot of tall buildings or services oriented businesses, simple matter of economics and urban development. Currently, Davao is attracting already lots of investments because of it's good urban and economic plans and current development. Ie one of the most modern traffic signaling systems, talks of a rapid transit system, bridge to samal, agricultural development systems, infrastructure of ports of entry ie seaports and airports, ease of transportation through traffic management systems and future road development and mass transit plans. And concerning urban sprawl, it won't occur in Davao city. Because the gov has mandated that only around 32% of city land will be urbanized while agri and environmental conservation for the rest of the city. And to stop it, Davao is not the "biggest city in the world" or anywhere for that matter. There are numerous other cities that are above it, in the Philippines it's puerto princesa, but it's mostly just a large town. In terms of leisure, davao is definitely lacking compared to cebu if your talking about nightlife, but it has some ok bars. If you look at the social makeup of the city, people here are super laid back and would rather talk and drink slowly than go out and party party. Yes, the curfew is enforced but people are used to it and just end up drinking and partying harder. The fact that this curfew has been maintained is a testament to the discipline of the people of the city. Davao taxi drivers are known for their honesty simply because of the good civil discipline that has been in place in the city. Of course there are still plenty of other things to do here. Mostly nature, ecological stuff. Since davao is branding itself as an Eco adventure city for it's tourism campaign. Of course I missed a number of things pero hago na to go back and edit pa. As all cities, Davao is not perfect, far from it. But the fact that davao as a city and a community is trying to asenso and that should be commendable. Davao has been touted time and time again as one of the most competitive and livable cities in the Philippines and indeed Asia not just because of it's present state but because of where it is heading in the future. Maulaw mo. Now I challenge you all who reads this to broaden their mind, think critically, objectively and fairly. Tanan ta aware sa crab mentality pero mural mga hypocrite mo tanan na wala nato ginaayos ANG social makeup nato as a country. I would like someone from Cebu to enumerate the way I did about their city without the cattiness please. Think a little, but more so love a little. Filipinos complain na wala ta ga asenso. Pero it's not the governments fault, but the fault of the individual Filipino who don't try to change themselves both in their economic state but also their mental state, until that's fixed well, don't expect our country to asenso ever.
